I use the color label to "identify" when a photo has been scrapped -- do you know if the color can be brightened? I use the purple to label as scrapped and wanted to brighten it.
 
It would be awesome if we could customize the colors but I haven't seen anything regarding that, and I've take a few online Lightroom classes and have been using it since 2011.

You absolutely can.

VIEW > VIEW OPTIONS (or CTRL+J)

It will pull up LIBRARY VIEW OPTIONS/GRID VIEW.

Under OPTIONS, you'll see TINT GRID CELLS WITH LABEL COLORS. It's defaulted to 20%, but it will go up to 50% tint. I have mine set at 30%.

Cheryl, thanks so much I thought I had seen it before but could not find it and I googled and could not find anything about that.

Next question - do you know if you can change the color of the "grid" Mine is gray and I find it messes with my viewing.

Thank you Cheryl! I don't use this but now I might label photos scrapped if it makes them pop out!
 
Thanks for the tip @gonewiththewind ! I use the color yellow for my photos that have been scrapped, but I didn't realize you could do anything to make it stand out more. I'll definitely be doing this!

Go to EDIT > PREFERENCES > INTERFACE and you can choose the fill color of the main window. The fill color only changes the window around the image (doesn't change the panels). You may want to check out the LIGHTS OUT option as well as it may help you view in certain conditions.

Have you ever watched my Lightroom series that I did a couple of years ago? I did an entire tour of the workspace and talked about interface customization.

If you haven't, you should definitely take some time to watch them. There are all kinds of tips and tricks included!
