Life Hacks | Pad Patter 10.16.16

I use the dryer sheets for dusting our DARK walnut trim- dust shows SO easily! I also use them on our paneled doors- as all the little ledges like to collect dust too!

We did the freezer bag over our phones when we were at the waterpark- saved the day on a few of the wetter rides!

I've used the bread clip on my son's flipflops- they lasted the rest of summer that way! ;)

I totally have a sparkly turquoise nail polished key - that one is for the lake house! :D

Seat warmer for pizza- BRILLIANT!

We have a roomba vacuum that does all our hardwoods- but I do like to vacuum the corners & doors/windows trim!

I wrap the stems of bananas in foil or plastic wrap- they keep longer :)

We use binder clips for EVERYTHING- they make great bag clips (like kids' goldfish crackers & chips), they work great to keep cords untangled & organized (I have one clipped to my desk that holds my phone charger) and we use them to hang things in the pantry (brown sugar, powdered sugar, baking chips)

I'm just reading through this laughing and getting lots of ideas...my life is going to be such a breeze now...ha!!!

Life hacks! I came home one day to my husband using my hot glue gun to put dots all over my hangers. Apparently they keep clothes from slipping off. He loves watching a YouTube guy called the Crazy Russian Hacker.
This cracks me up! U cannot even imagine walking in and seeing my hubby using my glue gun. Love the idea for the hangers!

My friend told me to use a brown sharpie on my gray roots that were showing to get me through until my hair appointment. It sounds crazy, but it works!

I can just see someone at the store going through the sharpies looking for one close to their hair color! :rofl

That's awesome that it works.

One of my favorite life hacks is when we pick up a pizza and bring it home, I'll put it on the front seat and turn the seat heat on so it keeps the pizza nice and warm. :giggle Yes, this is my life. LOL.
I took it a step further hahaha. I asked the pizza place how I could get one of those bags delivery guys use to keep the pizza hot and they apparently sell them! Best 10 bucks spent ever!

i have him , keeping chopped onion in a 1/2 pint -small masion jar, a half a onion in a pint. keeps fresh, need to replae seal lid sometimes

Speaking of dryer sheets, I take scissors and cut them into thirds since 1/3 of a dryer sheet is more than enough to take the static out of clothes (even here in the desert) and I don't like to add more chemicals than necessary to do the job.

i would never have even thought to question this! did u experiment with different sizes? half/ quarter? (i may be a science geek)

I read about someone cutting them in half and did that for a while and then tried 1/3. That's as far as I've collected data. :D

I am amazed! I love all of these ideas! So one life hack that has helped us a lot is we created a family Google calendar. We all downloaded it on to our electronics. Then when someone needs to schedule something that would involve the family or another family member, we can put it on the calendar. That way everyone knows what is going on and nothing gets double booked. We can all get the reminders and notifications, too. We even have "take garbage cans out to street" that repeats every Wednesday night and whoever is home when we receive the notification takes them out to the street!

This is an old one because I wonder how many people use bars of soap any more, but if you buy them, take the wrapper off when you get home and store them in your dresser...lingerie, socks etc. They dry out and last longer plus they scent your clothes. That drying process is what makes normal soap 'French milled'. I used to like Irish Spring back when I used bar soap for this.

Now if you use liquid soap and you swear you can't get any more out, just add a bit of water and either try that or use that mixture to shoot a squirt or two into your toilet AFTER you flush. Next flush gives your toilet a little wash.

i like that idea re: toilet wash! (or soap is 'wrapper-less' in a box but i just leave it in the bathroom cupboard for a few days til we open the next box - cheap air freshener!)

LOL as the garbage take out /bring in person, your family's willingness to even tolerate this notification is awesome to me!
