I am so very excited! I just ordered my latest Shutterfly book and I finally splurged and tried out their lay flat pages. It was $40 extra, but I was under the impression that it would be over $200 to have lay flat pages in one of their Shutterfly books and the lay flat pages are only available on the premium photo books and they NEVER go on sale. I did a regular 12x12 book and then when I added it to my cart, a little pop-up showed up and asked if I wanted to upgrade to lay flat pages for a flat rate of $40. I had an additional 20% off coupon and another $10 off coupon too, so I only ended up paying about $25 for the upgrade. I'm super excited for my book to arrive. They said 10/19 at the earliest. BOO!

So, has anyone else ever splurged and tried these out?

No, but I was just looking there the other day and saw that they do 10x10 and it will be the next place I try printing an album!! I would love to hear how the Lay Flat pages turn out so post an update once you get it!! :) :)

My first book is on it's way I am tracking it now!! I am very intrigued by the lay flat too! I did goof and put my first page on the cover as the other company I had didn't have covers, and I didn't notice it til too late...but it's all good!

Never splurged because I had the same understanding as you. btw. you rocked the coupons!!!!! I want to see pics when it arrives!

I'll be sure to post some pics and a review once it's in my fat little hands. I can't wait. I haven't been this excited about getting a book in a long time! I told my husband all about it and he just can't understand my excitement. I knew you guys would understand.

Oh Karen, what a great upgrade and at a great price. I have been wanting to try the lay flat, but haven't "splurged" for one yet. Cannot wait until your book arrives and hear your reviews!

I have wondered about the layflat pages, but have been afraid that the left and right pages may not line up right. At least the crease saves me from that anxiety.

That does look pretty cool.

Karen - are most of the pages that you print in a book double spreads or meant to coordinate well?

Actually no, I rarely do double page spreads that are meant to line up, but I do forget not to put stuff too close to the edge and sometimes elements, pictures and most especially my journaling get lost a little bit in the centerfold.

awwwww haaaa! I was confused by what they were too. Basically, they are just seamless 2 page spreads. LOVE it!

I got all excited last night because my book has shipped. Then I checked this morning and the estimated delivery is now 10/22! That's a week away! How can it take a full week to get from Phoenix to Michigan. Argh! The waiting is killing me! :)

I can't wait to see what your book looks like Karen. I have only ever printed at Costco and Persnickety Prints.

i have learned this trick with shutterfly over the years... DON'T put important stuff too close to the center edge! it will disappear into the black hole of binding. hopefully the lay flat pages will correct that! i've never splurged on it myself because it's too big of a splurge for me! i'm excited for you that you got it at such a great price!!

I have never tried shutterfly's lay flat pages but I have made a 10x10 lay flat album with AdoramaPix. I did my 2010 scrap pages in this format. It took 2 books to get them all in but they are beautiful. My only negative about them was the spine on my bigger book came not so well together and I also don't like the pages being exposed because my kiddos like looking at the books at random times and if their hands are ever dirty then the pages aren't protected in any way from that. If it weren't for those 2 things I would continue doing the books. The prints were so stunning and the 10x10 size is my absolute favorite. Still don't understand why the scrapbook world has not tapped into this size!
