Anyone know anything about these? Pretty sure mine broke. :(
Is it fixable? Or does that mean a whole new laptop? It's a 2007 or 2008 Dell laptop.

Is it the port or the cord/converter box on the cord? I've have problems with my Dell cord. Amazon is cheaper to buy a replacement.
Otherwise I don't know. Sorry

I just googled. When I look at the charging hole on my work laptop, there's a tiny piece that has one tiny hole. On my laptop, there's no tiny piece, and it looks like the metal prongs are exposed. There are several of them. The cord has been dying forever, so I'm certain that needs replaced also. Ha. But my work cord works for about 5 seconds each time I plug it in.

Thankfully, I don't think I've lost anything. Anything I hadn't yet put on my EHD can be re-downloaded. :)

Darn was hoping it was the cord. Just bought one this weekend for 6.50 -- figured it was better than never retrieving some pictures and digi kits that are on the old computer. Good luck! It's so frustrating having computer issues.

All computers are different, so unless your work laptop is the exact same year and model of computer it wouldn't necessarily match your personal laptop. Take it in somewhere to have it looked at.. If it is actually your port, I believe most of them can be replaced without too much trouble - so long as someone knows what they're doing.. :)

My original thought was that it didn't fit properly, but when the light would turn on, I thought maybe I was wrong. I think I just need to take my cord (s), and laptop to best buy. Lol

I used to do computer repair, and this varies so, so much depending on the model. Some laptops, the port is a five-minute repair with a really inexpensive part, and some laptops are a huge PITA with expensive parts. If you take it in, they should be able to give you a quote before you commit to anything.

Thanks Lorry. I called best buy geek squad. ... they wanted $40 and two weeks (up front) just to give me an idea of what is wrong. Then they call me to tell me if anything else is wrong, how to fix it, etc. And they can only fix it, if it's a model they have. frustrating.... i bought it from them, but because it's older.... blah. I am going to call Dell today, and research other computer repair places around me.

You could also look for cords and ports on Kijji. Same model might be your least expensive alternative.

I hope it's an easy repair and it doesn't take the 2 weeks! Fingers Crossed!
