So... this is totally not scrappy related, but I know there are lots of crafty people here. I am a crocheter usually, but I do know how to knit too. I'm just not great at it. I have a pattern I want to do, but I really don't want to use double point needles. I thought I saw somewhere that you can use circular needles even to make socks by doing a double circle with the attacher part. Anyone have some good tutorials or youtube videos? Here's what i want to make (but for a beer bottle for my hubby) :giggle

Actually I do magic loop using a 40 inch circular needle. you divide the stitches in half and have needle leftover on each side. I'll try to find a video. It's a little more tricky with colorwork.

I own a couple books on knitting socks in the round using the Magic Loop method. (got mine at Amazon) I use self striping yarn so I don't have to do any colorwork.

Yes! Magic Loop is what I remember hearing about. I'll try YouTube tonight. Thanks! :) I think I better practice with some junk yarn first. :)

YUP! I use magic loop for everything in the round!! I use 32in usually but i think many use 40in :) have fun!!

Okay... so I found some tutorials yesterday and figured out how to do the magic loop. I did about a two inch section with leftover yarn to check the size since I'm changing the pattern from a wine bottle to a beer bottle. I just used my Addi 40" circular needles (interchangeables) I have horrible gaps between the two sides where I flip over... should I be using different circular needles? I think my cord might not be flexible enough as that seems to be what is making the two sides pull apart. Are there actual "magic loop" needles?

Aside from that, this whole magic loop concept is miraculous! I totally want to make socks and mittens now!
