Here's another question for you.

Kindle or Nook?

Since he knows I want one for my b-day, Husband has been researching them for me, (Yeah. He's awesome like that. :)) 'cause he knows I won't. So far, from his input, I'm liking features of both. I'm leaning towards Kindle because of the long battery life. But...I like Nook because it has more titles and allows a variety of media file types. I'm also not sure about the split screen on Nook that shows you your titles at the bottom. I'm thinking that may be distracting while reading.

So, any of you gals who have one or have tried before you buy, share your two cents, please. :)

If it's in the budget, go for an iPad. You can read Kindle, Nook and iBooks on it. (Not to mention all the other great iPad stuff!)

We also have a Kindle for DH and we really like it. Honestly, I'm an Amazon person, so I give it the edge over a Nook.

Yip! I agree with Laura! We have both the ipad and kindle and love em!

I actually prefer reading on the kindle for the "more book-like feel". Althoufh i find myself wanting to touch the screen often like my phone and ipad- haha!

i have a kindle and i love it! what i love most about it is the no-glare screen - i can actually SEE it sitting outside in the sun at the park with the kids or whatever. and the battery life is fantastic!

I have a NOOK color and I love it! My daughter loves the "read to me feature" that has actors reading (animatedly) childrens books to her! It's a perfect feature for if I need her to sit for awhile and give me some peace! I can read magazines and play angry birds on it now too! :)

I was gonna suggest iPad too, the. Only thing with the iPad is I seem to get sidetracked by the Internet, facebook etc and realise I'm not reading anymore lol

My boys got me a Kindle for Mother's Day. My youngest son has one (he got it for Christmas) and he carries it with him everywhere, so he made the decision that I was getting a Kindle! I might still get an iPad later...but I love love love my Kindle. I had to learn where to put my hands though so I don't accidentally keep flipping pages. My dh will get one for Father's Day too (he's already let the boys know that's what he wants).

I just downloaded Calibre too. Someone told me that it converts any file into the format you need. I haven't tried it yet, but I have several friends that use it.

If you want a multi-use product, go with the iPad. If you want a dedicated e-reader, I'd go with the Kindle. My own personal preference (no offense intended to Nook owners) is that the Kindle (and Amazon) are better than the Nook and B&N. It really depends on what you want to use it for. If you think you'll read a lot of magazines or books that need color, then the Nook might be a better choice, but for simple flat out book-reading, I'd go with a Kindle.

I love my Nook color.... it is the step between a kindle & an ipad... I like that I can read while it plays my Pandora station... I can lend books back and forth with other NOOK users and Barnes and Noble has a ton of books for free or for under a dollar. There are also apps that work with it... calendars, GPS, games like angry birds, and even epicurious has an app for NOOK. Magazines like Martha Stewarts Living, O and Good House Keeping as well as news papers... maybe it isn't for everyone, but I am in love with mine!

I bought a Kobo back in December after looking around a little. I love it! I really wanted something that wasn't back light (like the iPad or Kindle Nook) because I read a lot and my eyes start hurting after staring at my iPhone too long, lol! I chose the Kobo over the Kindle simply because I can check out ebooks for free from my Library and use them on my Kobo and I can't do that with a Kindle. Other than that, I think the Kindle is the best choice. I just read way too much and too fast to be able to justify spending money on books, especially ebooks.

Wow, I didn't realize I was in such a minority. I have a Nook. I did about four seconds of research before I bought mine. I went with Nook for two reasons... they were $50 off on Black Friday and my library has started loaing free ebooks and they don't work with the Kindle. So, I bought Nook. I also have an iPad, but I don't like reading on it because it's too heavy and the black-light on it hurts my eyes after awhile. Well, not hurts, but seems to strain them and I can't read as fast. So I use a book-light with my Nook if my hubby wants the lights off at night. :)

I have a nook also :) I can grab books that I can't find at BN from other sites such a smashwords and the like and side load them, I don't know if you can do that with a kindle. Also, my hubby bought it for me as a surprise, I am super happy with it :)

I vote the ipad as well. I have both the nook and kindle apps loaded on mine but to be honest I have never once used the nook app. I am definitely an Amazon shopper so I probably would have went with the kindle if I was going to get just an e-reader. I love reading on my ipad though, especially my Better Homes and Gardens magazine. Wow, the color and features are just amazing!!
