The song and lyrics:
"The Garden Song" by David Mallett

"Inch by inch, row by row
Gonna make this garden grow
All it takes is a rake and a hoe
And a piece of fertile ground
And inch by inch and row by row
Someone bless these seeds I sow
Someone warm them from below
'Til the rains come tumblin' down

Pullin' weeds and pickin' stones
Man is made of dreams and bones
Feel the need to grow my own
'Cause the time is close at hand
Grain for grain, sun and rain
Find my way in nature's chain
Tune my body and my brain
To the music from the land

Plant your rows straight and long
Temper them with prayer and song
Mother Earth will make you strong
If you give her love and care
An old crow watching hungrily
From his perch in yonder tree
And in my garden I'm as free
As that feathered thief up there"

My page for this challenge using some of this week's 30% off sale items (papers & alphas):

I was inspired by the lines
"Plant your rows straight and long
Temper them with prayer and song
Mother Earth will make you strong
If you give her love and care"
I used rows of long paper strips and stitches to decorate and journaled a bit about my girl and how much I love and am proud of her as she gets to the end of high school.

I love the “straight and long” strips inspired by the lyrics Melinda! Thanks for making an example page!

This part of the song resonated with me about my son. My son is studying forestry and loves to learn about plant and animal life. In the past 6 weeks he's been to the Netherlands, Costa Rica, and Louisiana. He's heading to Colorado this month. When he comes home 80% of his pictures are of plants and trees and flowers! I think these lyrics reminded me of him because he's finding his way in life through the nurturing of nature.
