Our granddaughter is 17 months old and starting to say many words. She is 100% a grandpa's girl - she calls him "Papa".

I have tried for a month to get her to say "Gramma" with no success.

A few weeks ago we were taking her back to her house and I was sitting in the back seat with her. All of a sudden she started chanting "Papa - Papa - Papa" ... non stop for nearly 10 minutes. I kept saying "Gramma" to her, but she didn't budge - it was Papa all the way. (Of course, my husband is just loved it!)

Last weekend I thought I'd work with her again at saying "Gramma" - and this is how the "conversation" went ...

Me (to Harper) - "Gramma"
Harper to me - "Georgie" (that's their dog)
Me: "Gramma"
Harper: "Kenzie" (her 1st cousin)
Me: "Gramma"
Harper: "Daddy"
Me: "Gramma"
Harper: "Momma"
Me: "Papa"
Harper: "Papa"

Ha ha ha! It cracked me up!! She's bound to come around sooner or later! :heartlub:beat

My daughter called her grandmother "you there" for the longest time! And her auntie was "honey". Of course, those were the two people trying the hardest to get her to say their names!

Awww that's so cute!

My son couldn't get his tongue around "Grandad" as a little one, so he used to call my Dad DD (dee-dee), well its stuck and he is 8 now, but Grandad will always be DD

Hah, don't despair, she will before you know it and it will be the sweetest thing you've ever heard!

Maybe she thinks you are also Papa? My kids named my mom "G-ma" and still call her that (they are 15, 12 and 10 now)

I love that the little "nick names" stick even when the child is older!!

Aw, that's adorable! They are so cute when they say these things. I hope she starts saying "Gramma" soon!

OMG, love the idea!!!!!! Just in case Jill, these are some of the amazing speech bubbles we have in the store:

Jill: I had this idea to do a scrapbook for Sarita, (when I didn't knoiw it was called scrapbooking) so we noted every word, photograph every moment....she always laugh at the fact that her first word was NO
