So we're redoing our boys and I decided I'm going to let them pick their own bedding. What are your toughts? Character or just plain print? I would rather it be non character but I figured you're only young once and having a fun character bedding of something you love is a great way to make a room yours. What are your toughts?

When they are young, things happen to their bedding, crayons, markets, just stains. So I say this probably isn't bedding for five years so let 'em pick. It will make the room feel more like them.

I kind of agree with you.. My preference is for non-character, but they are only young once. I think I would definitely have veto power though--we don't want anything too obnoxious :) I would maybe pick some out that I am okay with and then give them the choice!

Our kids have always picked their own bedding. Unless I find a really good sale when they aren't with me :giggle
Colton is 8 and still has character bedding. :)

My kids are the same way. I have them pick out something that was not character related for sheets & comforter/quilt. Then I would let them pick out some character pillow or throw that they can add to their bed. Then the accent character item can be changed every couple years or so w/o a lot of $$ being spent on it.

My daughter picked out pink sheets & I actually made her a matching quickie quilt. Then she got some Hello Kitty pillows to match.

My boys all have character bedding even though I would definitely prefer a nice quilt from pottery barn or something, lol. DH encourages them on the characters though. I think we'd have a star wars bedding set in our room too if it was up to him, haha. So, yeah, I say let them pick, and only turn them down if it is something truly horrendous!

I hated character bedding, but only because it was printed on the worst thread count imaginable. My boys got some once and then hated touching it because it was so scratchy. See if they are ok with a better quality plain print, and the maybe make some throw pillows for them with some character print fabric. Sometimes they have the polar fleece with the character prints they like and a throw blanket or even fun pillows with that would be fun too.

I'm with Kelley too...I love the Pottery Barn bedding. Their Star Wars one is awesome...and the quality is so nice!!

If I were to let my boys pick their own bedroom I'd be lost! LOL They would choose Ben10 for sure!! LOL

I let them have the character sheets, but made them have a reasonable comforter. lol

I went with character sheets with a nice comforter. It's a nice compromise, though mine are still young, so I made the decision on my own.
