Do you make albums for your kids? I just have chronological family albums but I think I would like to put one together for each of them. Any ideas what to put in them, lol?

I used to do a family album and then one for each of my boys. I just recently abandoned that method because I was ending up reprinting so many of the same layouts in both of their books and my book shelf with all my 12x12 Shutterfly books was getting awfully full. I decided that by the time they want their books (if ever) they can just have them on a thumb drive and look at them on whatever tablet or computer they have at that point. Maybe they'll even invent a 12 x 12 table just for viewing scrapbooks that folds in half like a real book. Wouldn't that be fun?

Anyway, when I was doing books for each kid, I would only put pages in there that pertained to them, like their sports and school stuff and funny thing they did. I would also put a lot of our family activities pages in there which mean I'd print a page 3 times a lot of the time. It just got a little crazy cost wise.

that is why I have never done them either, but my daughter is going to college away from home next year and I wanted to make something for her that wasn't just her pictures but something she could flip through when she is missing us.

I have yet to actually print anything, but I am doing yearly books for both of my kids. I started PL last year, and those are just getting interspersed among regular LOs. There are times that I have duplicate LOs, but I just put them in each folder for whatever child.

I will do the random kid book, usually using the freebie or cheap books from the deal sites. I'm working on one now, and I'll be making an ABC one too. I've done books before for my younger siblings. They love them.
I don't print every layout multiple times for my kid. When he's bigger, if he wants one , I will. But for now, my scrapbooks are accessible in the house if he wants to look at them - which he does.

I do books for each of my girls. The family album is my PL album. My girls are still young but have already asked to take their scrapbooks with them when they go to college/get married. The plan is to send it with them. Even though their are times when I have to print a layout 5xs I don't let it bother me.

I think that's so cool that your kids already are asking to take their scrapbooks with them. Maybe it's a girl thing. My boys used to look at their albums when they arrived from Shutterfly, but now they don't show too much interest. It's totally okay with me though since I pretty much scrapbook for me mostly anyway. :) If they want them later in life, that would be great, but if not. I don't care. Maybe their wives will like them...

Karen I'm betting your boys will want them later in life. My brother never acted interested in his scrapbooks until he got older. I now do pages for his books. He lives far away from family so he says it is a nice way to feel close to us and also so he can share with his friends who we are.

Let me clarify: I don't currently print extra copies because my kid is three. 6 years ago we didn't have iPads or kindle fires or a myriad of tablets, etc. Who knows the technology that will come in the next 15 or so years. I plan on my son being able to take his life in pictures with him, I just don't know in what form. Maybe there will be square photo frames that he can have his stuff displayed on. Maybe he'll want them to be his TV screen saver thing through Flickr or Picasa. And maybe I'll have to print a ton of books/pages. I don't want to have to store extra pages right now either. :)
