some of you may not know, but we (my hubby and I) are parents thru adoption, and thru the foster system. Three times we have adopted, a single (now 19 and married) a sibling group (now almost 18 boy (eek) and his twin sisters almost 17) and then about 4 years ago we brought in three boys (the main subjects of my pages it seems now) they are now 11, 9, and 7.
It was ROUGH, they had it bad! BAD, bad home(drugs, abuse and severe neglect) and taken out of the fire into the frying pan of some HORRible foster homes, one orphanage that has since closed due such high abuse and just ugly situations. They were on high doses for non existant but easier to control them ADHD, and then because it was so high they were on pills to sleep too..crazy!
Anyway, these boys tore everything apart, shoes, beds, blankets (I know, crazy huh), walls, bikes, scooters, seats to the car, swings, each other (lol) but we pressed in and pressed in, even when we would cry (me cry, hubby holding me) to sleep.
They had really had to steal and convive for everything they ever had. There was a real "animalistic" feel to their spirit.
Fast forward today:
Because of their amazing behavioral changes (and no medications needed) woot woot!! We spent the whole day shopping for clothes.
In order to do this before, I would have to take a nap, have a rockstar and try and get ONE outfit for ONLY one boy at a time. Today, all three got three outfits, shoes, socks and we had lunch out in public! We laughed and had such fun!
Then the surprise:
Bikes! oh I am making a page now, but they were jumping up and down and out of their mouths,"
oh wow, Thank you thank you, oh I am so gonna take care of this bike, I can't believe it? For reals, OH thank you!
I just want to share how amazing these boys are and well, you are my "scrapping family". Part of the reason I took 6 months off, was the focus and attention they needed. They now love to see themselves in books, and will even ask, " are you gonna make another page about me??"
Smile and hug your kids, mom or those you love...because we are extremely blessed to have such joy in our lives!

You make my heart so happy! I know there is a special place in Heaven for adoptive and foster parents! And mine will be right there, too. My sister and I are both adopted, though thankfully both as infants. It is amazing what love and perseverance can do. You all are amazing, special, wonderful people...raising a bunch more wonderful people. :heartlub:heartlub

Oh Anne! You are truly walking the walk! Crying here just thinking about what your boys had to deal with when they were so innocent! And how true love can turn someone around! Thank you for sharing your story again! And during this weekend too! Wish I lived near you! You are someone I wish I could give a call and say "put the pot on", I'll bring the dessert and we will have a good visit!

Wow what a story! It is amazing what God and love can do and two parents determined to love the boys to pieces. Amazing progress!
Hugging my young-un today -- first time he's been home in almost 9 months. I'm amazed at him too.

I wondered who all was adopted. I swear the girls and the boy that was married recently, resemble you. You are so awesome! You've given me great advice when I've asked. It's hard to remember to stay calm sometimes. Jamie has ADHD & it's too much sometimes. But, you're right, we get through it. We do what we can until we build up the ability to do more. All my love to you Anne. You truly do make the world a better place.

What a truly amazing story filled with love and perseverance. How blessed are you both (you and the boys) to have each other! :)

A beautiful story. You and your husband are very special! Here's to a happy heart.

Such a wonderful story, Anne! I am so glad for you that you are seeing those positive changes. So heart-filling! And for your boys? So very very glad that they found you and that you were able to love, persevere and endure. A reminder of what God is prepared to do for us. Bless you.

This was my heart, Ann! I love stories like yours and your family!

Wonderful! I love a good happy, and I'm so glad you are where you are!

And I love adoption stories.

This made my heart do a little dance. You and you hubby are making the world a brighter place! God Bless!

You epitomize my favorite quote: "Joy is the echo of God's life in us." May you always remain full of joy and continue to inspire us!

Blessings to you Anne. It makes such a difference when you can look past your sorrows and count your blessings instead. You have a wonderful family and the love in your heart shows through to everyone.

I admire you, Anne. That is quite the experience to be having. To see those kids coming around to realizing they are loved and cared for is such a wonderful thing. Hopefully life is coming together for them. And that it will all settle down and be comfortable for all of you.

Anne, how wonderful to have come through those trying years and reap the blessings of parenting done with love. Those chicks of yours have truly been blessed as I know you have been too. And really...taking three children shopping at once can try the best of us! 'Hoppy' Easter!
