Welcome to JUNE! Can you believe we are almost at the halfway point in the year?! I'm excited to host the photography challenge this month.
For this challenge, I want you to take a photo with white space (or negative space). White space in photography is a composition technique that leaves a large, empty area around the subject of the photo. This can be done for a lot of reasons: it gives the eye a place to rest, minimizes distractions, and forces the focus to the subject.
However, I love it for another reason- when scrapbooking a photo with white space, you can use that space to add titles, journaling, or other fun elements!
Here is the photo I took, using the clear blue sky as negative space:
And here it is on my layout. I cropped it a bit, brightened it, and then added journaling & the track shoes element to the negative space in the photo:

Remember our monthly challenge rules:
Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the June Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread.
The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month:
2 challenges = 10% off
4 challenges = 20% off
6 challenges = 30% off
If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).

- Take a new photo using the white space technique in your composition.
- Create a new layout with your photo - if you want, include a title, journaling, or some element(s) in the white space area of your photo.
