Hi everyone!
I hope you are enjoying your new M3 kit. This month I wanted to do something a little bit different. Let start by saying I love templates, but we are not going to go grab a template for this challenge, we are going to create a template to use for this challenge. :woot
I love very abstracts art and pages, so sometimes I might spend more time in my background creating them than on the rest of the page. I wanted to try something different today.

Here are the instructions:
1. I want you all to start with a blank page, no background paper no nothing. Make sure it's the size of the art journal page you want to create. I would start with a new empty layer of 12x12 (or 8x10).
2. Fill that new layer with a colored background that goes with the July M3 kit. Why colored?, You will see later.
3. Create a new layer.
4. Using one of the shapes tool, create a shape anywhere on your page using a color that matches or goes with the M3 kit.
TIP: Make sure you create a new layer for each shape.
TIP: Let some of those shapes go OFF the borders of the page
5. Now repeat steps 3-4 until you are satisfied with the look.
6. Save this file as a TIFF or PSD. This is your template! :thumbsups
7. Now, use this template to create a page.
TIP: Why I asked you to use colors that go with this M3 kit? Try different blends when you apply a paper to a shape, it will bring that hue into your paper and create some cool and interesting notes.

And don't forget to check out all of the June M3 products HERE.

One random scrapper will win a $10 coupon to Michelle's store! YAY! :woot:yippee:woot

M3 Challenge Guidelines:

You have 2 weeks to complete this challenge. Ends Friday, August 14th.

- Your page must contain at least 60% of M3 products
- Post your layout in this thread and the M3 gallery.

I am so glad you ladies, like the idea. I am hoping to play this weekend.

We want to see. I think I understand but I was going to ask for at least a peek at yours. Please....

Why does it matter what color the background is? I think I'm missing something. It sounds like what I do any time I want a layered-paper kinda page (although my Shapes tool creates a new layer immediately so maybe we have different software). I've never done that for AJ, so that's a fun twist, but I've never cared about the colors.

You can change the blend in the shapes and it will bring out some cool effects! Totally forgot to mention that, right?

Now I'm confused (stop laughing I know I'm confused a lot lately). Are we making background paper or a template?

BOTH or neither. You can use it as a template or as a background for a really really cool AJ page.

I'm still confused about the colors. Maybe it'll make more sense when we see your example. :)

Lorry, I am working on it, but unfortunately my computer keeps crashing.

Here is the template I made:

Here is the background with some of the shapes using a different blend mode before my computer crashed again.
