Today's Pad Patter is brought to you by the 'take a photo at 8am or 8pm" MOC challenge - What does your January look like at the moment? Is it back to normal after Xmas breaks, or is it out of routine because of snow or school holidays or another reason? Do you have an MOC routine?

Any other month, on a school night, the kids are in bed reading at 8pm. It's school holidays here, at 8pm one was watching TV and the other was on the computer, i think, i was distracted by the impending storm outside and MOC on my laptop - pretty normal for January, at least they'd both had showers and were in pj's and the dishwasher was packed. January's routine is no routine here.

I am up early due to the dogs all being in our room. My daughter is at a church conference all week,so the big dog is in our room (on the floor) little dog on my pillow. (crazed woman I am). A noise happened at 4ish AM and both went a bit bonkers, so I'm up now! argh..lol
raw

but I am excited, cause I can prepare for the 8am photo shoot, my boys don't know is going to happen! bhahahha
today, school until lunch. We usually walk at noon, but today....chat here at the lily pad! woo hoo shameless plug!
Our weather here in the southwest (think Billy the Kid and cowboys and indian desert), is lovely, long sleeve, no coats! Windows open to a nice breeze.

Actually, it is kinda a relaxed month...and I think I am gonna bask in that on the homefront, since the LILY Pad is (wait for it) hopping! bhahah

We don't stress over holidays ... everyday is pretty normal here. So after holidays we're back to normal pretty quickly.
So far this month has been pretty much like regular. Nothing crazy has happened and life is moving forward.

January tends to get pretty monotonous around here. Get up, go to work/school, come home, do homework, cook dinner, do dishes, spend time at the Pad, scrap a little, go to bed, rinse, repeat :giggle We sometimes have a snow day or two thrown in there. We are on a 2-hour delay today, so my 8am will look completely different than a normal day. Usually I am at work chatting it up with co-workers before the kids come in, but today I am still home until about 9. It's 7:56 right now, so I'm getting ready to go snap my photo so I can scrap it when I get home!

Next Friday we start a major remodel on the house (part 2) but started the demo work yesterday so our January schedule is really off. I did take photos so I will be able to scrap some before and after scenes. I know I will be happy when it is done but don't look forward to the interim. @AnneofAlamo love those frogs.

Usually the holidays are put away right after New Years... and then school work speeds up since the end of the marking period is looming. Other than that, relatively normal. For me, up early(ish), out of the house, work, home, homework with the boys, dinner and relaxing with scrapping/tv/hubby! Weekends are another story or soccer, errands, random events and a little relaxing all included.

We're back to the same old same old here. Both kids are now back in school, which means routine time! Which actually means that I finally get some alone time at the house. Yay for that.

8 am and 8 pm are actually the two most chaotic times of our day. :)

At 8 am, we're wrapping up getting dressed & putting on coats and boots so that we can drive DD to school. At 8 pm, the kids are changing into jammies & brushing their teeth so they can go to bed.

I am going to set two alarms for tomorrow and hope I can snap a quick pic or two of the craziness.

DD went back to school this week so we are back to the usual routine -- DD goes to school while I stay home with DS. We drive her back & forth (we live out of district) and then it's a flurry of activity until bed -- snack, homework, free time, dinner, shower, bed. DH is currently working two jobs so he's only home for about 35 minutes for dinner & to see the kids.

By 8am DH has taken Rosie to school and the house is quiet. The washing is on the go and I have my PC time until I shower and get going. School is back in swing and we are doing building work outside and the builders all arrive and get noisy by 9am. Son 1 is at work, Son 2 is still asleep from gaming all night. His Varsity only goes back in March. Then I fetch her from school, do chores, errands, make supper and watching tv gets us to 8pm and then bed at 10pm. Its same old same old and all is good.

I was still in bed at 8am as the pup dog let me sleep in. So I am going to go for the 8pm photo. Not sure what I will take a picture of yet. Schedule is wonky as we recover from snow this weekend. Then on Friday, Girl Scout Cookie season starts, which tends to take over my life since my dd is very active. She sold over 1,100 boxes last year. I think her goal this year is even more. Fun times ahead.

I think "normal" is something new going on all the time.

We're back into our routine. I make my husband lunch and both of us breakfast every morning. My girls have theater rehearsals at least twice a week. One has music lessons on Fridays. I walk on Saturdays while we would walk through the holidays, with Christmas Eve on Saturday this winter and bad weather, we've missed several!

My MOC routine is to read the challenge as soon as I can in the morning and then make my page as soon as I can fit it in. The latest time for that was on inspiration board day, when I didn't get it done until the speed scrap that night. A few times, like today, I've finished my page by 10 a.m.

Almost back to a full schedule here. We just have to add in one more school subject & piano lessons.

Mama Wake-up Call/Workout/plan for day 6
Breakfast/Chores at 8
School work 9-12
Lunch 12
Naptime/Finish Seatwork Time 1
Check/Go Over School work 3
Afternoon Activities - Piano/Basketball/Errands
Dinner 6
Bath 7
Read Start at 7:45
Bedtime Littles 8:15
Bedtime Bigs 9:30
Bedtime Mama 11:30

With 7 kids I feel way more productive when we stick to a schedule.

By 8am, the kids are already at day care, I've already gone for my walk/run, logged in to my work laptop.
8pm, kids are already in bed for an hour, and I'm contemplating my own sleep. Since my two aren't in school yet, we're pretty much back to routine.

I like that the traffic is calmer around this time. Otherwise, it's really the same. The storms lately have been throwing us off. We don't have the right clothes and it's a very different driving experience. I scrap everyday anyway, so MOC doesn't really change that. I think the storms have made a difference more than the time of year. More people are staying indoors & the office is pretty quiet as we work while listening to the changes in the wind & rain.

We just had our 1st snow day ever since DD was in school- 4 yrs! That was weird & definitely mucked up my normal day off/house chores day (although I put them to work helping- so that was a win!)

January in general is getting back to our busy sports & evening activities for kids. We also try to do some deep cleaning & general de-cluttering. We for sure have less busy weekends with the holiday season over- so that is nice!

Honestly, right now, my routine seems to be blown out of the water. I used to be able to scrap in the evenings, but lately by the time I'm done with everything else that we have going on, my energy and creativity are ZAPPED!

All in all, things are back to normal - go to work, come home, kids do homework, make dinner, clean up dinner, etc...

But we've had a few weird things here and there that have stolen just enough of my time and attention that I can't seem to find my January rhythm yet. 1. My son had a weird medical blip, and we are now doing Dr follow-ups and changing some things with his diet, etc. You wouldn't think this would take that much time, but it seems to. 2. We're finishing our basement. So we've painted and hung the doors, painted and put up trim work, laid tile in our bathroom, installed the plumbing fixtures in the bathroom (sink, toilet, etc), and now we're on to carpet. Many of our nights have been spent carpet shopping. They're actually here installing it today *yay* so now we'll have to go furniture shopping... otherwise, we'll be sitting on our newly carpeted floor to watch tv :giggle

oh, also, my kids all 3 started private lessons for instruments in January. This is totally new for us, but was a Christmas gift from their grandmother. So now I have to incorporate school pick-up (to get instruments home) and driving to/from lessons into our routine. But this is an awesome addition to our schedules that I am very thankful for! I love that our kids have the chance to focus on their music, which they all absolutely love! Makes me happy!
