My daughter took this photo of her fiance for a lighting class this past semester. Everyone says he looks like the character from Moana....(Joven is from Guam - so he is island-y)

Hmm this is going to be interested. I think the subject matter will be the most difficult - snow and weddings are the first things that come to mind and it doesn't snow here. ;-) Thinking cap on.
It doesn’t snow for me here either so totally get where you’re coming from hehe. Did you see in my spiel the symbolic meanings for white, they might give you more ideas :)

In the instructions there are several references to "your photo." Does that mean we cannot do multi-photo layouts?
You are welcome to use multiple photos but remember this is a WoW page so try not to let your photos dominate :)

Zanthia, there is a color swatch and these colors should be fine:

There is also issues too sometimes with some monitor callibrations...so if the paper has a "cream meaning yellow tinge" that is a warm tint.. to whiten it, you can add a blue filter to it or hue adjustment to make it more white than cream.

How I changed, for example, my black ribbon to white: On the rasterized layer of the black ribbon selected in the layer pallet, I held the ctrl/cmmd key and pressed I.. that inverts the color from black to white. I then clipped a curved adjustment layer to the white layer and lightened it a bit and tweaked it a little to keep the texture. It is not always the easiest depending on the element.

Perhaps there is another answer that is better for you, but that is how I adjusted elements I was using that weren't white to begin with.

yes if you invert black it goes white but not if its a color element and if you saturate a color element its gray.
so how do you change say a blue or green item to white.

Super difficult, and I couldn't easily recolour in Photoshop Elements (I'm still learning after having to downgrade from regular Photoshop)
I love your page Kirsty! I did just post a step by step on how I recolour to white in PSE. I’m sure you’ll find easier ways over time but just incase you want to get a feel for how I do it, you’ll find the tutorial posted as a comment under the original challenge post.

I just shared a step by step on how I do it in PSE not sure if it’ll work for you but it is located in post #2 under the original challenge post. Hope it helps you :)

thanks - thats what i was doing but to get a colored item white you lose all texture - tried on several items can only get a light gray.
