Welcome to Day 7 of MOC 2026. I am excited to be here with you and to bring you a PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE!

Now, let me just clarify that Photography is something I am NOT good at...I like to look at photos and drool and imagine how they got it to look so good...so I am just a struggling beginner trying to amp up some photos to scrap. I decided to challenge myself (and you) this January to get out of my picture taking rut and try something different. In wandering down my Pinterest Rabbit Hole, I discovered some posts using a mirror to get fun photos. (If you'd like to see my Mirror Photography board, you can find it HERE )

So, let's get to it...your challenge for today is to take a photo/s (one or more) with a mirror and then make a layout featuring your photo/s. (one or more) Your photos can be of people, or still objects, or nature etc. as long as there is a mirror and a reflection clearly seen in the photo/s. If for some reason you do not have a mirror that you feel would do your photo justice, you may use something that is reflective such as a CD or a Christmas Ornament...I would prefer a mirror, but something like this would work too.

Here are some sample pictures that I took:

And here is the layout that I made with my photo/s:
The challenge rules are:

  • Take a NEW photo with a mirror. Your photo/s can be of people, or still objects, or nature etc. as long as there is a mirror and a reflection clearly visible. (Mirror is preferred, but you may use something else reflective such as a CD or Ornament if mirror isn't available.)
  • Make a layout featuring your photo/s.
In addition to the specific instructions above, your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:

  1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (no outside hosting will be permitted)
  2. Posted in your MOC 13 page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder, using the Copy GALLERY BB found on the right side of your page in your gallery
    • You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts
    • Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean
  3. Posted in this thread using the Copy GALLERY BB found on the right side of your page in your gallery

Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). Product from other stores will not be allowed for MOC; your pages must contain 100% Lilypad product (current or retired product from designers or guest designers presently selling at The Lilypad). For more details, check out THIS post.

Reserved for questions...
Question: I noticed some of your photos use non traditional items to reflect, like spoons. Does it have to be a “mirror” or can it be a reflection that is obviously a reflection, like in a puddle?
Answer: As stated above, I would prefer a mirror to be used, but anything that shows a clear image and reflection would work as long as it is a NEW photo taken January 7, 2026 or after.
Question: Does every photo used on the layout need to involve a mirror?
Answer: No, only one has to involve a mirror and reflection, but you can do more than one with a mirror and reflection if you want.

Question;
I noticed some of your photos use non traditional items to reflect, like spoons. Does it have to be a “mirror” or can it be a reflection that is obviously a reflection, like in a puddle? I love reflection photography, and can go a little wild with it, just want to check. Aalto, a number of your photos on your board were shadows instead of reflection (the forks as an example). Not sure if you or the algorithm add those. I’m looking forward to having fun with this.

The photos you are referring to are on my Pinterest board. I have now put them in a reflection sub category as some of them don't use a mirror. I only have one fork photo pinned, so when you click on it, the algorithm suggests other photos like it.

Same day scrapping!!!! Aaron repotted my orchid this morning while I was at work and had taken photos in front of the mirror not knowing that I could use them for today's challenge.... hehehe. (please excuse the bathroom chaos visible in the photos... pics of everyday life I guess!)

Thank goodness this prompt was for day 7 and not day 8 as today was our designated day for disposing of the last of our Christmas fresh greenery. I read the prompt while my husband was awake, as I needed his help to support the mirror after setting the tree on it. I stood on a chair to shoot over his head and got a photo I was happy with....much nicer than the earlier photos I had taken of this lovely gift from my brother & SIL. I will use this photography technique again. Thank you.
