@Karen - is it allowed to use the torn template to tear off part of the letters leaving a torn edge? or should we only be using the torn template to layer a separate torn paper on top of the letters so you can see the whole letter with a torn paper on it? Hope that makes sense.

Yes, that does make sense... and yes, I think that would be fine if you tear part of the base layer off as long as you also add a second torn layer on top. Hope that helps!

ok so we must have at least 2 distinct layers and the one on top must be torn. The base can be torn or untorn. Thanks for clarifying.
