Happy New Year!! Can y’all believe that 2024 is here? I swear it comes faster and faster, but at least January means MOC so I won’t complain. Speaking of challenges, I have a hybrid one for you this month. I really want to share my love of hybrid projects, so I thought I’d host a challenge that will hopefully show you how easy and fun these are. Now don’t go running away hehe. I promise this is accessible to anyone!
This month let’s have a Spotlight challenge with YOU being in the spotlight. You need to answer ONE of the three prompts below and then make a tag, journal card, Traveler’s Notebook page, card, or any other hybrid project with your answers displayed. Let me share the prompts and then show you what I mean.
Answer ONE of these three prompts:
For your hybrid project, besides TLP products, you can use other media like paints, your own drawings, and other basic crafty tools, etc. Really, the sky is the limit! I made three different tags just to show you the possibilities:
Here’s my first one and is the most basic:

I simply used Photoshop to write down the names of three songs that feed my soul and added some stamps from Music of the Earth by Rachel Jefferies. Then I printed this design onto regular cardstock with a normal black and white printer – nothing fancy needed! After printing, I cut the paper into a tag shape and it was done! Easy peasy
Next I went in a different direction when I documented 5 things that make me feel confident:

With this tag I used a stamp on some cardstock for the tag and then used mixed media powders on a watercolor paper. I then cut the woman from that watercolor paper using People Cut Outs by Scrapping with Liz. I have a cutting machine, but in case you didn’t, I printed out the PNG version, cut it out with my craft knife, and then used it as a stencil to cut the watercolor paper. I then made word strips using my $13 Dymo embossing label maker which is probably 20 years old. This tag really didn’t require anything special but was still fun to make!
Finally, I decided to make a more traditional hybrid tag using artCrush 43 by NBK Design:

I love how this collection has many affirmations printed on journal cards which I resized in Photoshop. These cards allowed me to have 5 different affirmations which I will refer to over and over again. The best thing about this tag is that it has a pocket, so I can simply add new cards whenever I want to!
So, do you see how easy it is to make a hybrid project? You can use paper bags, envelopes, construction paper, cardstock, stamps, watercolors, paints, markers, ink, or anything else you have lying around. The best part about THIS challenge is that you can easily add more tags / cards / notebook pages, etc. throughout the year and create a mini album about YOU – what a great keepsake for yourself and for your family! Here's all of mine on a ring that let's me add to this set:

I hope you will give this a go. Remember, you only need to answer ONE prompt. Put your thinking caps on and share a bit of yourself and your creativity! You have until January 31st, 2024 at 11:59 EST to enter and one random entry will win a $5 coupon to Mommyish’s store! I cannot wait to see what you come up with!
So, let’s recap the rules:
