January 2022 Book Club - A Discovery of Witches

Nope... I think I started the 2nd one, but didn't finish it. I think I meant to, but got distracted by other books and didn't get hooked enough to commit to a whole series.

I started the second too but not fully invested with the new historic characters yet

also kept comparing it to Twilight... the magical creatures and forbidden love.

There were a lot of parallels in

terms of romance and insta-love & 'meet the family' but withmore rowing & yoga in castles

funny this was brought back to life - ! I binged the show on a road trip this past fall and immediately bought the first 3 books on Kindle. I haven't started them yet because I have a ton I'm in the middle of with some Dec deadlines. but I can't wait to read this one! I loved the show.

A friend of mine who has read this and read Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches as well as watched both shows told me this: Discovery of Witches was a better show than book, and Mayfair Witches was a better book than show.

i'm about 1/3 the way thru book 2 and it does feel like it would be a lot faster to view a scene on a screen than have all the painstakingly crafted furniture and people's physical characteristics described to you when there are so many places and so many characters!
