Is this challenge a more minimal one to match the template? This is my first MOC, so not sure if Simple template means c&s.

Just means the template is simple. You can use it as it inspires you, so long as it's still clear you used the template.

I chose to do another 'comic' book layout using the rest of my daughters batman and robin pics she took for an assignment last semester.
