January 14: Clean & Simple with Texture

I always spend too much time overthinking these pages.

Texture paint/gesso. The outline hearts are stitched but it's difficult to see, the overlaid heart is wood veneer.

One of the things I like most about Scrapbooking in Community is the vast array of what we like and don't like. This is my least favourite kind of scrapbooking! It's like a waste of a page for me, but I love that others love it! :) I will rise to the challenge but it's hard for me to put just one or no photos on a page. I scrap to remind myself of the memories of life. I'm a people person, so my photos are all full of people and events! Let's see what I can do clean and simple! :D

There is an easy work around... while you scrap, you stop when you meet the guidelines, and save a WEB copy. Then complete your layout to your liking to save for your printing and albums. Then you have fulfilled the MOC challenge AND have a page that better fits your preference. I think sometimes a photo/minimal page can sometimes say more than ones that are overloaded/busy. I scrap both ways. :)

@lcpereyra : In your sample page, do you consider the veneer heart or the gesso "prominent"? I'm just having a little bit of trouble understanding what you consider prominent. Thanks! =)

I actually consider the washi tape as prominent as it is a featured element that stands out. :)

By prominent, I'm looking for something that is readily noticeable and doesn't get lost in the layout. Hope that makes sense!

i should try this more often.

I love this picture of my son (he changed a lot since then. Now he is growing his hair for cancer patients). Liked this challenges very much! Thank you!

My texture was the vellum pieces, but I also think the felt square is pretty prominent too.

Not really my style but after I do one I really like it!!!!! Thanks for the challenge!
I used a paint splatter for my texture.
