So, today I saw a video of fabric printing... I've never seen that before. It was kinda cool to see. Little stuff like this intrigues me, and I'm always saying that I have to google something or I'll look it up.

What have you come across that you never saw, but was intrigues by, or you never realized how it was done or made?

Here's the fabric I saw.

I can't think of a specific example. We have a program on TV here called How It's Made and I'm always watching that or as you say, Googling, lol.

It's funny how we use things on a daily basis but mostly never stop to think how they 'came to be'. I never stop wanting to learn. It's all fascinating stuff. x

Whoa! What a gorgeous fabric, too! I could just sit and watch that all day. (What are those videos called? ASMR?)

I love the show Dirty Jobs because you see some interesting jobs--important jobs that we may overlook. And they're dirty, of course lol! :) In one of my fave eps, Mike Rowe was inside the Mackinac Bridge and got lost. It was amazing to see inside my home state's bridge. He also climbed the bridge to change a light bulb. Eek! He was strapped into mountain-climbing gear, of course, but still! The camera pans out and down and you see literal miles of bridge and far below are cars driving along. :dizzy

I can't think of anything right off the top of my head, but I'm very inquisitive. Anything I see that I want to more about, I look it up. Hubby is the same way. We'll be watching something on TV and he'll be on his phone looking up more information.

Umm everything. I also can't think of an example at the minute - but the fabric, I'm watching it and I'm still not entirely sure how it is being done! :giggle All machinery/production stuff intrigues me!

Well one thing that I've never seen made and I WANT to see made are real Mexican style tamales. I understand the recipe but I need to feel the texture of the masa when it's ready to be shaped. I need to hire a local Mamacita! In fact, I think I'll talk to my former workmate/friend and see if she has any connections. We've talked about this for about 10 years, but maybe this is the Christmas we make tamales.

My mom is 1/2 hispanic (yes I'm a 1/4 but DONT look it at all!) and she has her grandma's Tamale recipe! My sister, Mom & I had a day of tamale making- boy are they time consuming- but SO good! The sad thing is we made over 100 & they were gone in one day! ;) I think finding a local Mamacita is a great idea! There's nothing like a family recipe! :D

Wow! That's awesome! We've watch the "How It's Made" tv program a lot- the kids (and us too!) think it's fascinating! The one really cool thing is how they made Hockey Goalie masks!

I always want to know how stuff is made, probably because I consider myself a "maker". I love to make things and it bugs me when I can't figure it out! I can look at a piece of clothing and know how to put it together (I sew a lot!), but there's always new things to learn.

I once sat next to a collegiate-level orchestra conductor on a flight. I just had to ask him how he could hear all the instruments and read the music at the same time, all while knowing what was wrong or right. It was fascenating.

The other side of this is trying to figure out the process the person went through to figure out how to make the thing in the first place. That's what amazes me most.

I"m going to look for How It's Made now! :giggle

I'm a 1/4, too! My maternal grandmother was Mexican and my grandfather was Irish. They made quite the pair but loved one another something fierce. :)

My middle name is Hortense - which was my grandma's name.

That fabric printing is interesting. I want that fabric for something, too! IDK what...but something! lol

I saw fabric printing in China, it was part of a tour. They were also making beautiful jewelry. I can't think of something I've never seen though. I'm sure there's tons of stuff, it's just not coming to me right now.

The video is cool. Do you think the ink is in the roller?

I recently heard of fabric printing at the State Fair. The person receiving entries was commenting on mine and suggested I consider fabric printing since I do digital. I will have to look it up.

I love this stuff too-that gif is mesmerising , I could watch it all day, I also like watching glass blowing, jewellery making & art processes - I can't remember what it's called but there's a show about making US candies hosted by The Fresh Prince of Bell Air's cousin that we used to watch too

That is so cool! I would love to see that fabric printing done in person... just mesmerizing!

My fiancee frequently watches YouTube videos. He'll watch topics I wouldn't have considered watching...from various boating topics, how to do things on cars, building and repairing computers...I find myself getting caught up in all of these things I never would have considered interesting...that alone intrigues myself...lol...
