Happy Wednesday everyone. There's lots of excitement in my household today. This evening is the secondary school Dance Fest. This is an annual event where the students show us what they've been learning in dance class and after school dance clubs. Joy is in 3 after school dance clubs, the school dance team and taking dance as one of her school options. As a result she will be in 8 of the dances tonight, including a duet she has choreographed herself as part of her coursework. TJ used to be involved in dance in the school, and as she's back home at the moment has been invited to join in the alumni dance that forms part of the finale.

Have you recently been to see a show, or are you going to see any shows in the near future?
- School, local amateur groups or professional?

Are you or a member of your family performing in a show?

I haven't been to any shows of any kind for a long time.

I do have a cousin that has grandchildren very involved in the performing arts in Orlando. The granddaughter is in rehearsals for a musical "Bring It On" that happens this weekend. Both kids have performed in musicals, singing groups, and even guitar concerts the last few years. Earlier this year Mom and Dad were in the same musical as both kids.

I'm lucky that they share a lot of photos on FB that I then scrap and put into Shutterfly books for them.

Maybe some day if I'm lucky I'll be able to visit when they have a show so I can see them perform live.

My oldest kid (22) just finished doing the sound and music for a community theater production of Sponge Bob the Musical (two weekends, 8 shows) and we watched the show Sunday. As someone who had no interest in Sponge Bob ever before, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. It had a current events twist, which was cool, and none of the actors' voices were as screechy as the ones in the cartoon.

Next, they (same kid) are directing a youth production of Annie in the same community theater.

I hope you enjoy all the dances tonight Angela. That’s fun both your girls get to perform.

My oldest asked me to take her to her school’s dance concert a few months ago. We both enjoyed watching the different dances. My niece also dances competitively and it’s always fun to watch her perform.

The only dance class I ever took was a social dance class in high school. I am a terrible dancer.

The dance fest sounds wonderful! Hope everyone has the best time!!
My oldest granddaughter was in dance for years and this was about the time every year that we would attend her recital. She quit a few years ago, and I miss the performances.
I took a dance class as a senior in high school, but I am not terribly coordinated lol

That's very exciting and holy cow... 8 dances! How does she keep them all straight! :giggle That's also fun that TJ will able to participate in the finale too! I hope it all went well!

My kids' school had a variety show in middle school and there were a couple of dancers that would perform for that and it was fun to watch. I've never done any dance performing myself, but I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into it!

We went to London a few weeks ago and went to see the ABBA Voyager show which is an ABBA concert that is completely virtual, using avatars projected on stage. It was absolutely mind-blowing -- if they hadn't told me those people on stage were virtual, I would not have known they were not the real ABBA (although the the real ABBA is much older now). Plus the stadium was built specifically for that show so there were all sorts of lighting and video effects all through the stadium that were awesome. Anyhoo, it was really cool and makes me hope more performers will preserve their music and performance so that it can be shared with people that way.

that sounds incredible.

I have two girls in dance so we just went to their spring recital. They will both be in a Narnia ballet at Christmas.

My other daughter was in a local production of Aladdin back in the fall.

We went to a local ballet production of Midsummer Night's Dream about a month ago.

Our small town has a really nice Performing Arts Center and a local theater company that puts on really good shows (my daughter did Aladdin with them). We have friends that are usually in them so we usually go to them if we can. In a few weeks, they are putting on Bye Bye Birdie and some of us will probably go see it...mainly to see our friends.
