It's Cold in Here

Sometime while we were sleeping last night, a fan and motor unit in our furnace system failed. The furnace works fine, but without the fan the furnace cannot heat the house. Aaack. We made lots of phone calls this morning, but since it's Sunday, we had NO luck. They'll all call me back tomorrow. Grr... :waiting

In the mean time, thank God we have a fireplace and a few little space heaters. We're holding at about 65 degrees in here, so not bad for now. Hopefully we won't lose too much heat when night falls. Right now i'm baking cookies, so we'll leave the oven door open when I'm done to get a little extra heat in here. Brrr... it's cold.

Oh man...brrrr! We actually keep our house furnace set to 63-65 - we just get a little used to feeling cold. With these frigid temps we've been having here I bump it up just a bit, but I also don't want a $400 gas bill! Hope you guys can stay comfortable until tomorrow and hope they have you first on their list!!!

mandakay that's what i figured - that lots of people set their furnace at 65ish anyway, so we are really in a perfect place right now... i'm just not so super sure about tonight....

and the main floor is 66, but the upstairs and the basement are just COLD. so we will be camping in the living room tonight with the fireplace. yup.

Yeah we keep our furnace there too. But that is 65 all over the house. I can imagine it is colder for you in rooms farther from the fire place Rebecca. Hope you can warm up together!!

They're calling for a major winter storm in the next day or so. Hope all stay safe & warm.

I keep mine at 75 lol only cause my house is about a hundred years old and drafty as heck so i have to turn it higher for it to be somewhat warm but even then it feels about 60 degrees in here. What sucks is we have oil heat gah
lots of blankets is what we do LOL and i have to make my 5 yr old keep his clothes on cause he likes to be in just his tshirt and underwear ) which i hate LOL)
my upstairs is colder too, we have one vent that the heat goes through with 3 bedrooms on that floor it doesnt heat at all,
so i decided we are getting space heaters LOL
I hope you guys stay warm hun!!!!

well after MUCH trouble, it is finally fixed, and heat and hot water have returned. we were without heat for 36+ hours. needless to say, it was WAY less than 65 when we woke up this morning. try low 50's. not good.

we went through every fire log we had last night, plus ran the space heater, and piled on every blanket we could pull out of closets. We all camped in the living room by the fire. it was COLD. made for a long night having to keep getting up to put another log on and keep the fire going.

*sigh* it felt great to have a warm shower today. i am so extra thankful for heat right now. and i'm very thankful it failed and got repaired before the storm hit. that would have been no bueno.

Oh man! That really is good that this happened before the storm.... It's supposed to get really cold and nasty! Glad you're all fixed up now!
