I love browsing through the gallery here at TLP and getting all sorts of ideas and inspiration. I've also found that posting my completed pages is empowering and motivating for me, and keeps me scrapping.

I'm struggling with the best way to post 2-page spreads. You know the kind, where each page needs the other to be complete, where they don't stand well alone or there's photos on one side and the title and journaling on the other.

Should I post each page separately and link one to the other (like I did for these)?

The problem is that the two halves of the layout need to be seen side-by-side to get the flow and continuity, and I feel like I'm cluttering up the gallery with more posts than necessary.

Should I post the 24"x12" image sized down to 800px wide (like I did for this)?

The problem with that is the thumbnail only shows the center square crop of the image, and the journaling is too small to read.

I could save the layout as a square image with white padding at the top and bottom, but then the text would *really* be too small.

What have you seen done in the gallery for 2-page spreads that works best for sharing?

If you add white padding to an 800px wide image, the text would be the same size as when there is no padding on an 800px wide image, so why not do that?

I've done both the together and separate versions, depending on how much detail I want to show off.

I'm not sure what's best, but what's easiest for me is to save a web sized version of the entire two page layout and share that. Here's my most recent two page spread for an example.

Journaling is for me, so I don't worry about it being readable online.

Some people do the two page spread and then each side so that they can read the journaling.

Yes. It's nice to be able to get a better look at the layouts. Especially if one side is for a challenge or something.

we had a whole MOC challenge about this, and tons of discussion! :)
I just post mine in the gallery, one side at a time, usually right side first, so when viewing my gallery, you see them next to each other (unless is the case as mine below, where they are on two separate pages of my gallery... I need to do another layout to fix this issue. :giggle). I've also seen some people provide a link to the other in their credits... "this is side 1 of a 2 page spread" and on the other "this is side 2 of a 2 page spread" (and link them both up).

when I display them in a thread, I like to take the thumbnail images of each, side by side, rather than the bigger "normal size" layouts... like this.

The way I like to look at them is when they have the two page spread as the upload and then in the credits each side separate...I am nosy, I love love seeing all your lives, reading the stories and peeking in on your lives. It is like a book where I know the characters! lol stalking without the weird freaky parts..bhhaha

So there is a difference between those who want to view two page spreads, and ease of upload. I generally do it like @klee73010 and upload seperate, first right then left. It's a good idea to provide a link from one to the other though.

Absolutely. I want to read the pages/journaling! The story is just as important to me as the elements, probably more so.

I do this. I just posted a 2-page spread that way. The thumbnail (in the gallery) is wonky since it only shows the center part of the page, but I add "(double page)" to the page title so you can tell from that. Then when you click through, you see the double page and in the credits I have closeups of the left and right sides.

yes!!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ exactly like heather does...I love hers...and her pages! ♥

I'm an underachiever here! Saving multiple copies, uploading multiple copies, adding a white border, linking one to the other: That's too much busy work for me, and not how I want to spend my time.

I do like to see the full double page together, so I upload it that way. I've been saving mine at 900x450, so at least it is a little bigger. However, I think the gallery resizes it down to 800 pixels wide. I do wish there was a better way to display double pages, but I accept the limitations of the gallery, and don't do all that extra work to try to get it perfect.

A lot of us are using the tag "double page" When you view your layout, up above the image, next to the title is a Tags area. It is fun to use that tag to look at all the double page layouts.

I think it depends on how you want to show off your pages, there is no right or wrong way I think.

I've started using the "double page" tag too.

I think I'm a little different. I upload each side, and then in the credits, I add an image of the double to show them side by side. That image is smaller, but it can be clicked on for a larger size or you can just look at each side in the gallery.

I have to remember Double Layout. I've forgotten that!
