Is there anyone else out there who doesn't like pumpkin?

Fall is my second-least favorite season of the year (Winter wins the honor of being my least favorite). And to add insult to injury, there's pumpkin-flavored everything everywhere. Gaah! I really don't like anything to do with pumpkins except to carve them for Halloween. They are just simply icky tasting.

I always get the feeling that I all alone on this one. So, are there other non-pumpkin people out there to keep me company?

LOL. I'm not overly pumpkin obsessed. I couldn't care less about a pumpkin spiced latte. But I do love pumpkin pie and pumpkin muffins/bread. A girlfriend makes a mean pumpkin cookie with chocolate chips. Other than that pumpkins don't get me excited!

I totally get you! I love the Fall and most everything about EXCEPT anything pumpkin! Its everywhere and I am just not a fan of the flavor.

LOVE pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Those cookies mentioned above sound interesting.

It's funny because we don't tend to use pumpkin in sweet dishes. The first time I heard about pumpkin pie I was a bit horrified, who would eat pumpkin like that let alone pumpkin flavoured coffee (ok, not sure I got that right)

We use pumpkin in savoury dishes , roast pumpkin, pumpkin in curries and the best - cubes of pan fried pre cooked pumpkin tossed through a salad, totally yum.

I love fall, but when it comes to pumpkin, I'm fine with or without it. There are a couple things I actually really like that are "pumpkin spiced", but nothing I go out of my way to find. I do like to use it as a short-cut/lower fat & sugar option in a cake sometimes, but that's about it.

LOL well, I almost forget how it tastes, because here in England, or at least in London but I think KarenB said around hers is same, we only get them the couple of weeks around Halloween....
I do understand you though... I can imagine if I didn't like it I would have a hard time with all those flavors around the high street !!!!!

I eat pumpkin pie. But that is about it. I don't drink coffee anyway, but can't imagine the horror of combining pumpkin with it. LOL. I know it is a big deal for a lot of people, but I'll just stick to the pie and leave the pumpkin-flavored-everything-else to the lovers.

I'm not a huge pumpkin person... maybe a slice of pie or bread... but that's mostly it. I don't drink coffee and don't have the need to flavor things pumpkin. Nah, I'll skip that. I'd rather have vanilla or mint, lol!

I like pumpkin but it's not really a thing here and I don't miss it much. I do sometimes make a butternut squash pie. Cheaper and easier to find than pumpkin and pretty much the same taste.

I like pumpkin as a savoury food, like other squash. It's hard to find cooking grade pumpkins though. Everyone seems to grow the jack-o-lantern type here. That seems so wasteful to me. I don't like pumpkin pie at all. It's just wrong, but the spiced pumpkin muffins, bread, and lattes aren't that bad.

My family eats pumpkin year round. We live very close to Half Moon Bay, which is like the pumpkin capital. My kids love these brownies I make with just a can of pumpkin & a box of brownie mix. Scrumptious! Also, pumpkin bagels, I wish those were available year round.

I don't really get excited about pumpkin foods. I could take or leave pumpkin pie, etc. But, there is a soap at Bath and Body Works called Creamy Pumpkin which I LOVE. I don't think they had it last year though, so I'm hoping that in their mix of pumpkin scents there is one that is similar this year. I looked online the other day and there were 10+ pumpkin scents just in the hand soaps alone. Ugh. My nose will be so confused by the time I sniff them all I won't know what I'm getting. :gigle

I am not a pumpkin obsessed person. We have usually gone to the pumpkin patch and picked out pumpkins for the kids to carve, but I usually just toss the insides. A few times we have roasted the seeds, which are ok, but nothing I crave or anything. I don't drink coffee, so I don't put pumpkin flavoring in that, and I don't like pumpkin flavored things either. I love fall, though!

I love all things pumpkin. Pumpkin Pie is my son's very favorite dessert and I make them for him for his birthday every year (in August).

Love Pumpkin Crunch... seriously, it's divine.

And I'm a sucker for pumpkin spice lattes... no actual pumpkin in those, but the spices are enough. Sigh. LOL.

Yep, I *heart* pumpkins. Sorry.

We only get piles of pumpkins arriving in the farm shops around Halloween - strictly for carving. Although I am beginning to see the odd pumpkin recipe in magazines etc.But nobody I know actually EATS them?!!! So it's funny and fascinating to think of all that pumpkin flavoured food over there :)

You are not alone! Fall is my second least favorite season as well and while I admit I do like Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks, I really dislike anything else pumpkin!!

Ok so that's cleared up a question i've had for ages - i could not even imagine someone thinking ' hey! what if i try adding pumpkin to my coffee?! bet that'd taste great'.... cos yeah, i've been cringing at the thought of most of the US sipping hot caffinated pumpkin juice every year since the early 2000's when i started scrapping and seeing homage LO's in digi galleries

But as a food, i love pumpkin bigtime! i can survive most of winter on pumpkin soup and it makes me feel a bit better about nachoes (i mash it with beans and salsa) but the rest of my family aren't fans, DD hasnt eaten it since she learned to say 'no' but used to love it as a baby.

so what is pumpkin spice then? is that just nutmeg and cinnamon or something that you'd put in your pumpkin pie? i've never made a sweet pie with anything other than apples +/- berries
