So, I have to preface this by saying that I love Christmas. It's my favorite holiday for so many reasons BUT I think the Christmas displays are being put out way tooooo early. I can understand it a bit at the craft stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby, but both the Target and Walmart in my neighborhood put up Christmas trees last week. It's SEPTEMBER for pete's sake!!! I want to enjoy Halloween and Thanksgiving first. Does anyone else feel like seeing all of the Christmas stuff so early just rushes the other holidays? Maybe it's me, but I won't even unpack the Christmas decor until Thanksgiving is over. How soon do you start?

I agree! I haven't seen any in major stores yet, thank goodness. Well, that's not completely true. There were Christmas things out in Joann's over the weekend but it was only about a row and a half. Halloween & Thanksgiving get so rushed through every year.

I also saw Halloween candy in late July this year. Really??

It annoys me that it is such a rushed holiday :( never do I even consider Christmas before Thanksgiving is over. We start then, usually takes me a few days.

I hate it. I love Christmas...EVERYTHING about it and we are a family that puts up the tree the day after thanksgiving, but before Halloween just makes me cringe. :(

I love the fall.
and feel so bad when halloween and thanksgiving get over looked.
i'll buy christmas gifts but i REFUSE to even think about christmas decor
until after the turkey is stuffed! :)
hobby lobby is hard to resist. i mean COME ON!
it's half the store and i go there at least 3 times a week!
LOL so i do peek at things there...a bit.

Yeah, I agree....the stores rush all the holidays & seasons. We don't get out Christmas until after Thanksgiving so I have no need to shop for a tree yet. I am looking for a pumpkin patch right now to celebrate fall not a tree farm! I don't get it. :cornfused

I actually quite love seeing the Christmas trees out this early. We don't celebrate Halloween so it makes me happy to see all the pretty christmas stuff out. :)

I agree, it's way too early! I love the fall it's one of my favorite time of the year and having all the Christmas stuff out just reminds me of how short our fall is here, not ready for snow!

Hobby Lobby here was putting Christmas stuff out in August here and I went in to Wal-Mart to grab some ant killer this weekend and they already had all their lights and trees out for sale.

oh and I have unpacked Christmas stuff as early as beginning of Oct before. It made the kids happy. It's hard for them to not do the trick or treating thing when that's all that anyone talks about for like two months. Random strangers ask them about it which is weird to me, but what can you do? We make a big thing about taking the Christmas stuff out and listening to carols on one random day in Oct. :)

I'm with all of you. Wait until Halloween is over to put stuff up in stores!! And I don't bust out the Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving. I love both seasons so much and want to enjoy BOTH of them!

i hate it. it just WAY overcommercializes a holiday that really should be about anything but making money. *sigh*

plus it sucks that autumn gets ripped off.

plus, by the time it really IS Christmas, I'm sick and tired of seeing Christmas. *shakes head*

i am seriously not pleased with this trend. it gets worse every year.

I agree with everything you said.
the commercialism - ugh
hate that it rips off autumn
and agree - it IS earlier and earlier every year

*sigh*

Hobby Lobby puts it out in June here. Yes, JUNE! I died when I saw it. We pull Christmas stuff out after Thanksgiving dinner. We also go shopping for a Christmas tree that day. Walking around and hauling around a heavy tree is a nice way to work off all the extra calories :yesss

I hate it. It's not even October yet and our Walmart has just about put all the Halloween stuff up(and I've yet to pick up costumes for the kids) to make more room for the Christmas stuff that's been out for a month.
It's not going to make me spend more money having it out 3 months early, honestly, I spend less the more I have to look at it.

There was a big lit up Christmas tree in the entrance at Costco today...and it was about 100 degrees outside. You could see it while walking in and it was just too weird. Hide it in the back few rows for another month please!!

This. All the way. I am way behind on the costume thing. I hope there is something left when it hits Oct 1st & I feel okay about deciding on costumes!

I agree! :agree It's totally annoying that they rush all of the other holidays. I think they should wait till Nov. 1 to put up Christmas stuff. By the time Christmas rolls around (my favorite holiday... actually I LOVE Christmas Eve the best) I'm *almost* sick of it...

I noticed Christmas decos going into one of the major stores over here this week and it just seems way too early. We don't have halloween or thanksgiving but it still seems too early. I usually put my tree & decos up the first week in December.

Totally agree!!!! Went to Wally World and KMart today and there was barely any fall stuff out! One aisle for Halloween and candy and already 2 aisles for Christmas. REALLY?!?!?!?! Christmas is so commercialized at this point that it takes the fun out of decorating for Halloween and Thanksgiving!
