Due to a disease I have to spend most of my time in bed. I have been digital for over 10 years but it is getting too hard to sit up.

I have a 2017 iPad Pro that I would like to start using. However I have never tablet scrapped and it is a whole new world! I have watched some of Nicole’s videos on YouTube (NBK Designs) but I am still clueless .

1. Best app? Procreate or Affinity or maybe both?

2. Dropbox is sooooo expensive but is it the easiest to use?

I have a huge learning curve ahead but it will be worth it if I can conquer this new adventure .

hi sal4gal, and thanks for your questions! There are a few tablet scrappers around, so I'll let them answer the Affinity/Procreate question, but I wanted to chime in that I have BackBlaze for my cloud storage and love it. Easy to use and easy to download things, so you shouldn't have a problem on your iPad. It's $5/month for unlimited personal backup of your computer; you can have a backup of everything and then download whatever you need onto your iPad. I know that's a bit different than Dropbox, but for the price it's a great value. (And we should all have an off-site backup, so this takes care of that issue too!)

I will say that I haven't heard much about Procreate but the people who have talked about Affinity seem to really like it! Hopefully you find an app that works for you!

I heard that Photoshop will be coming out with an app for the iPad next year...full PS! Not a scaled down version. I have Affinity, but there is a big learning curve with it (although lots of online help). I can’t WAIT for PS on my iPad!

I just wanted to pop in and say hi and welcome! I don't even own a tablet so I'm not much help but I know @misslovescraps loves her iPadPro so hopefully she has some ideas for you (hope you don't mind me tagging you, Li Li!) .
Looking forward to you sharing some pages in the gallery when you feel like it! With 10 years of digi behind you, I'm sure you will be churning out pages from your iPad in no time!

I totally have nothing to add, sorry... but I'm intrigued. I would love PS to be available on the iPad!!! I would shell out for that!

Thanks for tagging me, Jan @IntenseMagic or otherwise I might have missed this. I have been using Affinity Photo on my iPad Pro but I have recently went back to scrapping on my computer using photoshop because it was taking me way longer to figure out how to do the things I can just fly through in photoshop and I was at point where I was just wanting to get some scrapping done instead of looking up tutorial after tutorial of how to do things.. Affinity Photo is a great for scrapping but it still can't touch photoshop, although it's getting there. I am incredibly excited because Adobe just announced that full photoshop is coming to iPad early next year. I can't wait.
Here are a few layouts I did in Affinity Photo on my iPad pro:

Sorry, I hit post a little to early.
As for storing and sorting my digital stuff I use 2 apps.
1. File Manager Pro - I use this to download and unzip my kits from the internet.
2. The Files app that is on iPad pro - I use this, linked to my iCloud storage, as the way to sort and see my files.
I have the very lowest tier iCloud storage. I think it's like $2.99 a month and I haven't even begun to use it all yet.

I learned all this in a class at scrapaneers called Art of the Apps 3.0. I will check with the admin. here and see if it is ok to link to it. It really helped me figure out how to use my digital kits and files on my iPad. As for Affinity Photo I just kept googling everything I wanted to figure out how to do. There are lots of tutorials out there.

I will be glad to try to help you with anything I can. I am still pretty new to it myself but I'm willing to help if I can.

I have used Affinity Photo but have never used Procreate. I use Dropbox to access my files. I don't know if it is the easiest; it connects to other cloud storage just as easily, it's just the one I am using. I choose to not store digital supplies on my iPad, although I know that a lot of users do.

I'm belong to an Affinity for Scrapbooking group on Facebook, (App Scrappers - Affinity Photo) which is full of video tutorials, questions and answer threads, and completed layouts for inspiration. (I'm not a video watcher, so I haven't gotten much out of it myself. I seem to get farther ahead just using the tutorials built into the app.) I am under the impression that most of the posters there are starting with templates (another tool I don't utilize) and learning their way around that way.

(Personally, I throw some photos into a collage from the Rhonna Collage app, export it on a transparent background, and then import that into Affinity. I haven't figured out photo cropping and resizing yet.)

I confess I haven't used Affinity as much as I would like. I like it a lot when I do use it -- in some ways, even more than Photoshop -- but I confess that at the moment, nearly all of my iPad scrapping is done in Project Life. My iPad Pro is overkill for Project Life -- although it works so much better than the gen 3 iPad I had been using it on -- but every now and then I just can't work my photos into a Project Life grid, and then I'll do a simple one in Affinity Photo. The more I use it, the more I love it; I just need to force myself to use it more often.

Some Affinity layouts. In the beginning, I mostly started in Affinity and then finished up in PSE, but I'm getting more comfortable (and I uploaded my favorite journaling font) in Affinity and trying to complete them there.

It looks like I put the photo into the template in Affinity, but the cards and journaling were added in PSE. (I was able to look at the PSD export.)

Used the Rhonna Collage app to select photos and imported into Affinity; title and journaling completed in PSE:

These two pages were completed in Affinity (not exported to PSE), using Rhonna Collage for photo grids. I'm getting better with it. LOL Still need to work on titles.

My problem with Affinity is that I have to guess what supplies I might want, and load them before we hit the road. And like Gracielou, I fly through PS, but feel like I'm driving over speed bumps in Affinity. I agree...it is a powerful app, but it's not Photoshop. I, too, will shell out for the PS iPad app. Adobe, Costco, Google and Amazon own me (Starbucks just rents me from time to time!). ;)

I belong to the same FB group as @sakura-panda and there is a lot of good info there. I agree that almost everyone there starts with a template but that's how I scrap too so I get a lot out of it. I have both Procreate and Affinity Photo but I default to Affinity for scrapping (no particular reason, other than the previously mentioned group that is very helpful.) I use Documents by Readdle which is an amazing all in one file management app that allows me to shop, download, unzip, and organize my digital supplies all within that one app right on my iPad!! I would like to do more scrapping on my iPad - in fact, I've been thinking about using just my iPad in January for Month of Challenges! Here is an example of a page completed 100% on my iPad. Your best bet is to just jump in and push all the buttons - at least, that is the way I learn best. :)

There are 2 options,
1. Free - Procreate
Pros - I love everything about it. Really easy to use
Cons - There isn’t a dropshadow tool . Therefore you need to create it yourself.
I love creating my own shadows so I have no issues using Procreate

2. Affinity photo - $19.99
Pros - QUITE similar to photoshop.
Cons - Re-learn a certain things as it’s not quite like photoshop
I’m not use to this app that much as I find it complicated.

Procreate is so much simpler!

PM if you need any help. @NBK-Design is really good with iPad Pro scrapping! I generally do most of my scrapping on Procreate.

Dropbox - I don’t use Dropbox I save mine FILES on my iPad .

I hope that answers your question.

Not an issue at all. I love helping out... ❤️
