So, one of my goals this year is to 'interview' my boys on the 10th of each month. Why the tenth? because January 10th (Today!) is their birthday and maybe that will keep me focused. I want to include it in my P365 stuff each month too.
But, I need ideas for what to ask them? Does anyone else do this?
Any ideas or links to places with lists?

Sounds like a great idea Becky! I'd like to hear these ideas too :)

I have a bunch bookmarked and/or pinned. I'll be back with more, but here are a couple with different types of topics.

The Tattered Pear has a journaling jar kit in the store that has some prompts that are applicable to kids...

Here is a list of "about me" journaling topics, but you could use a lot of them with kids...

Here is a list of "conversation starters" that could be used as interview questions...

I think this is one of my favorites... she videotapes the interviews and saves them on DVD.

And I loved this printable for the end of the year wrap-up. We actually did this as adults for the future generations...

At Ella Pub, they have a quiz/prompt ebook that has some that would work with kids. It is like $5.99 for 125 quizzes...

Love those links!

I looooooove to interview Bugga! I've been doing it once a month for about 18 months now, with a few gaps. Of course mostly it's been really silly because she's only now 5.5 but I love to get things in her words!

I usually start by covering the basics like her favorites (song, book, movie, toy, activity, etc). I do some variation of "the stats" like,
Right Now: Five Years Old.
Listening to: Jack's Big Music Show.
Loving: Cuddles with Daddy
Saying: 100 as in "Oooh! Look there's 100 birds!" "I want to eat 100 cookies!"
Playing: with crayons, practicing her letters
Giggling: at Jake (our dog)
Friends with: Emily

I usually ask her simple questions about how she is feeling, what's happening for her (we've interviewed about school, going to school, etc), or about something she loves. For a couple GWL prompts I've asked her to talk about a loved one (we've done daddy, nana and me so far).

But it's one of my goals to get a little more organized this year with the interviews. A couple ideas I have brewing are to list things (i.e. 10 things Bugga loves on the 10th) and to ask her to share her imagination more..go beyond the biography kind of stuff I've been doing mostly so far. Like asking her: if she could be any animal what would she be? etc.

I've noticed it's really helpful to be pretty specific with my questions otherwise I end up with a lot of "I don't know". And it's kind of like simply hitting the "record" button in my mind as I have a conversation as I normally would.

This is a great idea Becky! I usually do a list of the month's current favs but I've slacked in the last year. Time to get on track! I love the idea of doing it on the same day of the month every month. :)

Great idea and thanks for the links. I have to set something like this up.

Awesome links!! thank you so much.

I love the idea of doing a yearly video. maybe we could do one on their birthday since that is today and we have already missed the new year. I decided to make a board on pinterest so that I could have them all linked in one place. And my plan is to glance through each month and grab maybe 5 or 6 questions to ask them.

here are some ideas i've pinned recently!

i love the tattered pear jar.
but you really should do a search for journal jars.
my teenager uses these.
it's perfect.
questions you'd never think of.
like how they feel about school, their teacher, their friends,
their favorite memories, trips, pets etc...
here are a few of my favorite links to journal jar questions.
