My son loves this knock knock joke:
Knock, knock
Who's There?
Interrupting Cow.
Interrupt---
Moooooo!

Somedays he gets the interrupting part right, and somedays he waits too long. Me? I don't need a joke to interrupt. I'm really really trying to be better at it. Especially since it drives my husband nuts o_O when I interrupt him. I know, it's rude :shrug. But I grew up with a lot of siblings! If you didn't interrupt, no one would ever hear you!

So, am I the only one? Or do I have company in the So-excited-to-share-I-just-can't-wait group?

I do think somedays it must just be with him!

I am with you, I get so enthusiastic that I often blurt out while someone else is talking. My hubby, especially loves to tell drawn out stories so I "help" with the punchline.

I don,t tend to interupt, but i am mocked by my children for my inabilty to finish sentences...

I just get a little distracted, I'm sure I've said it all out loud but apparently not...

Sigh..

And the interupting cow joke is one of my favs :moo

Yes! Or he forgets what I think are pertinent details!
this! (but apparently he's more big picture and i'm more details - although i have also learnt that what i consider important details he just does not think is important in the story... pfft whatever - lucky i'm the memory-keeper!

I think this joke is told best in the voice of that guy from Big Bang Theory (sorry i dont watch the show so can't remember his name - don't judge) like in the movie Home (or that's how i hear it in my head still anyway!)

I am sooo bad about interrupting people. I try really hard not to, but a thought pops in my head and it's like it just can't wait to come out of my mouth! And I know there are times that if I don't say it when I think of it, I'll forget. Then I apologize for interrupting. My teacher assistant and I are both like this, so it's a wonder either of us ever finishes a sentence lol But at least that makes us more understanding :)

My son loves that joke too. :giggle And when he first learned it he struggled to remember to interrupt soon enough too. Ha ha.

I don't do too bad with interrupting unless like someone else said with my husband telling drawn out stories... I get bored and try to move things along. :)

I haven't heard that joke! I must do that to my kids! :giggle

I am an interrupter. I do try to hold back, and listen, cause at the same time, I am a listener. But... by the time I'm allowed to talk... I've forgotten.

I'm also a "make up my own word cause I can't think of the correct word" person?! Anyone else do that?

That's so cute @bestcee! I remember vividly that stage when my kids were enamored by knock knock jokes. I always thought it was so cute when they would mess it up a little!

I think I'm like @jk703 ... a little of both. But 100% yes to the "making up my own words" bc the correct word has escaped my brain and I don't have the time to wait for my brain to catch up. My mouth is faster than my brain these days. My husband and two kids actually sit and smile while I'm talking and wait for it to happen.

I'm so you!!! Grew up with siblings - I interrupt without knowing I'm doing so . I'm reeeeeealy trying to get better at it too - but sometimes I just get tired waiting for my turn ! Then the interruptions creep in !! Eeeps!!

Ha! My friend literally giggles when I start a story, only because she knows it's coming... and she will have to try to figure out what I'm mean. I think she thinks of it like a $25,000 pyramid game, and gets excited for the challenge! :giggle We've reminisced many times over escaped words... and the funny thing is, she will sometimes do the same thing.

This is so me! Or at least it was, I started taking a supplement and rarely do it now. Made my son crazy... he was always repeating the last words I said before I trailed off as a question so I would finish my thought.

But... by the time I'm allowed to talk... I've forgotten.

That's my usual reason for interrupting too! I know if I don't get it said, I'll have forgotten what I wanted to say when it's "my turn"... or my thinking that the speaker will take the conversation down a different path and what I wanted to say is no longer "on topic".

I think I may have a slow response system here.... I tend to nod a lot in the hope that the other person may stop talking and I can get my two cents in!!! I do get lot of chatty ones at the other end :giggle and then that gets mistaken as me being an 'empathetic listener' (I have been told that a lot many times) and I continue my nodding, whilst talking in my head #storyofmylife #circularqueue #taketurnstalking #whatturns? #thatswhyitellmykidstoputafingerontheirlips

Both of these are so me. I have to make sure it's being told correctly.

I swear I'm losing my mind somedays, because if I don't interrupt. Then, when it's my turn I've forgotten what I was going to say.

Tracie - what supplement do you take? Maybe I should start taking it too. My kids have pointed out that I leave them hanging and don't finish my sentences sometimes.

Yep...that is so totally me!!

I try to be really conscious about interrupting. I am a big time listener, so people tend to talk and talk and talk around me, so sometimes I've never ever actually talk myself if I didn't interrupt.

When I took a sign language class in college...I made up words (or signs) all the time.

Between my husband and my children, I rarely get the chance to speak at all except to bark orders and answer questions when they've stopped to take a breath. They are the interrupters. My daughter and my husband will talk to me at the same time abt two different subjects and I can listen to both and respond appropriately. Surely that wins me some kind of award!

My husband is notorious for telling 15 minute stories filled with irrelevant details, long pauses, and trail offs. I turn my brain off once the kids go to bed so anything he says after that is completely lost on me. I just nod and smile which is usually all he wants, anyways.

Yep, that's me LOL.

I am famous for butting in and saying.....just let me say this before I forgot......and then I blurt it out.

I never was one to interrupt because somehow for a lot of my life I must have had people who had good Conversational Skills!! They knew to shut up after a point and let others have a turn.

Then I married my husband who complains that I tell him irrelevant details but he tends to give me a lecture on a simple question so I butt in to ask details I want to know. He really gets annoyed at times and says that's not important so in many cases I just tune him out since i know I won't remember the questions I wanted to ask. He is definitely the big picture person. I had a co-worker who was also and we joked that I should be married to her husband and she mine. Her husband, like me, felt that most things could be answered with a yes or no. LOL
