We are having a celebration for DH's 40th birthday next month! I can't wait. I've been looking to get an instant camera... and wondered if anyone has one, and what they like about it? A friend has the Fuji one, and it was cool, but then I found that Polaroid makes one and keeps the images!

Any thoughts are welcome - pros, cons, likes, dislikes!
Thanks everyone!

Hope you have a great celebration. I have no experience of these cameras, but just want to say - what a great idea! :)

I honestly don't know, but know Polaroid are extremely expensive to run.... we have a Fuji mixture of DSLR with point and shoot and takes amazing photos, but don't know the instant ones...

My nephew has a little one that he got for Christmas last year and it seems to take good pictures as long as the lighting is set correctly. I think there was an indoor setting and an outdoor setting. I'm 90% sure it is the Fuji.

Thanks ladies... :)

I'm still researching... and it depends on the cost and what features I like. There is one that is less pricey, has a package with film, and will print the pics - The Fuji Instax. Then I found a Polaroid with Zink that will do the same instant pictures, but also keep a copy, so I would in essence have a copy of all the pics too! I love that feature! But... this one is a little pricier.

Someone said they thought the Polaroid 300 is the American branded Fuji Instax camera. Hmmm.... they are different, but probably marketed differently. Will have to research that too! The films would be interchangeable too.

LOL! It's between the Polaroid Snap and the Fuji Instax.

The only reason why the Polaroid Snap is in the lead in my mind is that I have a record of the images that we get digitally. (SD card in camera) So, it's both instant and "lifetime" for me and for friends. I don't have to worry about keeping "a copy."

My daughter has the Instax and although it's super cute (she got the pink one), I think I would go with the polaroid. 1. Because you have digital copy of the photo and 2. because the photo paper/film is cheaper. We went through so many $$ worth of "film" since, at least at the time, Instax film was about $1 per print. It's pretty finicky about lighting at times and it was a bit of an adjustment period for a girl who was raised on being able to take as many photos as she needed to to get the right shot. I have the Instax printer, which I love to use when traveling, but it doesn't fit your need at all.

My daughter has an instax also. She absolutely LOVES it. The photos are tinier than a standard polaroid photo would be. The quality is ok - like Tracie said, it can be a bit picky about lighting, so we've had to talk about keeping the lighting in front of or to the side of the subject, etc, and not back lit, etc. Super fun camera, though.

The big talk I had to have with my daughter was no mirror selfies with her friends! The flash would go off EVERY time and the photo would be a big ball of light... didn't stop them from trying it over and over though... sigh.

Ha!! Gotta kick it old school for the selfies on the old style camera! Turn that sucker around, point it toward your face, and hope you're in the shot!! :giggle

Heck, I've been doing selfies since grade school, and just didn't know there was a name for it!! :rofl

Thank you so much ladies. This sort of firms it up for me. I think I'd be better off with the Polaroid Snap. I might have to go actually hold one before I hit Amazon up. The boys aren't into selfies yet, so I don't have to worry about that. I wonder if it takes pictures without the film inside since it has the card?

Me too, Rebecca! Selfies since way before I knew what to call them! :giggle

I really really want the polaroid one

I'm only looking at the Snap one.... not the ultra cool Z2300. That one is out of my price range currently! They have a cool "social" one that Polaroid has but that's even more money!!!

I ended up with the Polaroid Snap. I really like the Polaroid Z2300, but couldn't justify getting it. The snap has been super fun and easy to use. It comes out with friends and family, the kids grab it to take a picture, but I love that I have them all on a memory card! Win - Win!

The color images themselves seem to be a bit bluer than normal. There are 3 settings, sepia, black and white and color. The color seems just a bit too blue. But, I like the way the photos come out! They aren't super clear and when looking at them in photoshop, they are pixely, but that was a given when buying it. If it is too close, you get overblown faces, so use someone with a longer arm if it's a selfie! lol! I love the memory card. So far, I have bought film on Amazon, so I get a bigger pack that has lasted and was a little cheaper! It's super easy to use, and easy to charge. All in all, I like it!

Plus, I don't usually like pictures of myself. lol! This camera, pixely or not, seems to take good pictures of me! I mean, A LOT! Way more than normal. Ha Ha... so I like that part, too! It seems to have a "That's a Good Picture of Me" filter. :giggle

Oh, I missed this whole convo! My daughter has an old polaroid and despite the film costs...we love love the photos. There is just something those grainy photos, haha
