Next week I need to make appetizers for a potluck to feed approximately 150 people. We don't have a lot of extra cash right now so I'm looking for inexpensive ideas (no dessert type stuff). Anybody have a favorite easy to make, inexpensive appetizer idea? I'm really at a loss...dessert I can do but I really don't know what to do for this.

Deviled Eggs
Ritz Crackers with pepperoni slices and cream cheese (the herb one is good with the pepperoni) on them

yeah the no dessert type stuff is what is killing me (there will be a huge cake and a few of the people are assigned specifically to desserts)

I like the Ritz cracker idea...would be so easy to do. Eggs scare me since they will have to sit at room temperature for a couple of hours before the potluck.

does it have to be already plated and they just pick it up and eat? or will they have little plates, etc.?
you could do several cheese balls with crackers or a homemade hummus with veggies or crackers?

and yikes 150 people is alot!!

mini pigs in the blanket
BBQ meatballs
Sweet Sour Meat balls
BBQ little Smokeys
Maple Sassages wrapped in lefsa
Crackers and cheese
meat tray

Surely you don't have to make enough for 150 people though, right? Even when I do stuff for potlucks at church and there will be tons of people, there are others that also make appetizers too, right? Well, Here's a recipe that since I made the first time, I am required to bring to all potlucks because everyone loves it so much. If you buy two bags of chips, you'll still have tons of dip left over cuz this makes a lot and is pretty cheap too. It sounds really weird, but it is delightfully delicious!

Corn Dip
(2) 12 oz cans white corn
1 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cup mayo
10 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 small onion finely chopped OR 2 small green onions finely chopped
1 tsp finely chopped jalepeno

Mix together and serve with Fritos Scoops chips. yummy!

Karen that sounds delicious! I may have to try that this weekend.

I have had something similar to this and it is SO good!!

Yeah I'm supposed to bring stuff for 150....it's a potluck but only by the registered members...there will be guests attending that won't be bringing food...so there are about 15 people bringing appetizers and desserts (that is the only food there will be).

That corn dip sounds really good...even if I don't take it for the potluck I'm pretty sure I'll be making it for us!

What about meatballs? You could get a big bag (or two or three :giggle) of frozen meatballs from one of those wholesale stores, then just throw 'em into a crockpot with some sauce. As my daughter likes to say, easy peasy lemon squeezy!
