Do you ever have a week that just stumps you? My week 24 is like that. I have narrowed down my photos to 47. EEK. Seriously, I know better than this but I keep putting it off b/c I have too much to throw in that week.

I just returned from a 10 day vacation and I KNOW that week will be similar. I've GOT to get it done. I WILL get it done. Soon. Now. (hear my pep talk)

How do you get through these weeks? Be ruthless with your photos? Scrap traditional pages at the same time? Inserts?

Coming from a non-PL-er (just a few toes dipped in here and there) I would do an insert or a whole other spread. Why limit the memories you're documenting just to fit inside someone else's pre-conceived box?

I sometimes make 2 or 3 spreads for one week. I dont want to leave photos out.

Inserts. I'm working on my week 25 now, when we spent 3 days in Rome. I'm putting together the 4th insert, and will likely have one more to finish the week. I'm still only including a fraction of the photos I took, but I feel they tell the story well.
I try to limit inserts in my album to reduce the bulk, but certain weeks need inserts, and this was one of those.

I have done some of all of the above!
I try not to be too ruthless with my photos, because if I love them and they tell ME a story or capture an aspect of someone's personality, then I have a hard time discarding them. I have used Lili's photo collages a TON, to put more photos in my actual PL spread. I have done inserts which are basically an additional 12x12 (front and back) with photos. I can't remember how you print. I print 12x12s and put in page protectors in a a 12x12 album. I have also used Amy's Project Grids and printed 8x8 photo collages or Lili's 6x6 collage templates and printed 8x8 as inserts. And I have scrapped traditional layouts :) It honestly depends on how much time I have and how motivated I am to get them scrapped and in albums. Does that make sense?

You can do it!! I believe in you!! (that is my pep talk for you:) )

I have adopted the "do as many pages as it takes" philosophy this year. Last year I crammed lots of photos onto one 2 page spread each week (with a couple exceptions). I used lots of Lili's photo collages to make it work. I had a nice, consistent looking book at the end of the year. This year, however, I just do as many pages as it takes. I tend to find natural splits so each two pager goes together for the most part. This summer, so far I have two weeks that have had at least 8 pages (4 - 2page spreads)!! My book isn't going to have a very uniform look... but I'm loving it just the same!

my answer... YES.
I do a mix of all of those. I do leave out a few pics I might have otherwise wanted to put in - I try to narrow it down to the ones that really do the best at telling the story I want to tell.
I do inserts. I love them. Or do 2 spreads for one week...there's not rule against it.
And I also do more traditional scrapbook pages for those stories that demand to be told in stand-alone detail. I just put the traditional pages into my PL album behind the normal PL style pages.

When my son was born this past May, I did an insert with just photos of the first day and everyone holding him. It was important to me that those photos be included in that week even though I knew I'd also do additional 'regular' layouts. I did the same for our staycation a few weeks ago.

Generally, though, if it is a regular week (no vacation or big event happening), I would just pick the most important photos or those that tell the story most completely and leave out the rest.

OK. I did it. LOL. I did a 2 page spread with a half sheet insert (will be 6x12 when I cut it in half after printing). I was a little ruthless with photos, but will do some camp pages separately for my "regular" album, which is a total hodgepodge of pages/dates/events.

I sort of didn't want to set the precedent of any event being more important than any other, so this was treated like I did with Easter, Spring Break, and End of the Year. Now, our vacation will be even trickier, but I think I'm gonna treat it the same way. On to a couple of "normal" weeks first...

Thanks for the advice and support. I feel good about it in the end...

Week 24:

And the camp insert that I'll cut in half for my album...

that looks great- I'm glad you included the photos- in the long run, years from now I think you'll be happy to see all these photos!
