And to all: Yes, crazy. It's a requirement.

All those sit ups pay off I guess.If it's super icy, I use YakTrax (these are supposedly just for walkers... they have more hardcore ones that strap on and all that, but I ran on these cheapos all last winter and they were fine) on my shoes. They just slip on. They work amazingly well. If it's just snowy/slushy type of slippery, I wear my trail shoes. They have a little more traction than just my regular running shoes.
Do a lot of core work, and it's easier to stay on your feet, too. I've only fallen once and it was because I was gawking at my neighbors lawn boy.All those sit ups pay off I guess.
