If you think I'm nuts...

This is my friend/neighbor. Well not my neighbor anymore, she moved a mile away. (Which is safer for me, because when she lived on my block she made me run with her) But anyway, I know her. She's been trying to beat this record for longer than I've been running, and has come within a mile of it TWICE. Then this spring, someone else beat it, and made it even harder.

But, she finally did it!

It's hard to imagine running for 24 straight hours, but she does. Other than stopping to pee or whatever, she doesn't stop at all. Her average pace was 9:38 a mile for the whole 24 hours, including eating/peeing/etc. She's amazing.

LOL that I miss a running club meeting and then it's on the news. But now you see why my running friends make me just feel like a big fat loser in comparison.

Wow! You couldnt pay me to do that and she did it because she wanted to!?! Good for her for setting a goal and achieving it though!

Wow, that is nuts lol Congrats to her, glad she achieved her goal, how awesome that must be for her!

Oh my goodness... I can't believe there is someone crazier than you! :giggle

Okay....just watched the video. I couldn't watch it on my Kindle earlier. I cried. So amazing. She has to have some EXTREME mental toughness. I mean seriously. A 9:38 pace for 24 hours? I can't even hold that pace for 6 miles! LOL

The first 12 hours, she chats and laughs and stuff and you can communicated with her. By the last 12, she's so focused she doesn't even know you're there, even if you say her name. I'm not sure where she goes, but she can turn it off and just run. I once asked her what she thinks about when she runs that long/far. She said "my pace". WTH? For 24 hours? She's insanely focused and tuned in. She doesn't even wear a watch.

It's just totally amazing. I can't imagine digging deep for that long. Yea....how do you think about your pace for 24 hours? LOL
I start counting backwards when it gets tough. I can't imagine counting backwards for 20+ hours. LOL
