I have been haunting Emily Falconbridge's Etsy store to grab up one of her up-cycled skirts! I am thinking they'd be easy peasy to make even if I am not a seamstress. I would love this, over jeans, to keep my neather reaches just a bit warmer plus I think they're cute! Maybe I should dust off my mom's old sewing machine - I have had it for 20 or so years and never used it, and give this a try????

Go for it!! I recently acquired my grandma's sewing machine and if I would just take the time to learn how to work the bobbin I would be a sewing maniac! Those skirts are so cute...I'm thinking you could make a scarf in the same way.

well I have gone so far as bringing the machine up from the basement... now I am trying to find the book on how to use it... I have seen it some where around here! hubby thinks I will have better luck finding a manual on line. I don't know.... the machine is from the 50's I think... lol BUT IT STILL RUNS!

those are cool skirts! i am sewing challenged myself, i own a sewing machine but barely know how to use it.

so (sew) I tried to make a skirt... came out rather interestingly, to say the least! Still have to find a ribbon to tie it together... hubby called me "Patches" when he saw it! I used white thread so I could see my stitching and I am a horrible sewer! I even sewed on a pocket! lol when I finally get it done I might post a pic if ya'll promise not to laugh (too hard )

So cute! I have my mum's old sewing machine, and I am just waiting for her to teach me how to put thread in it (I gave up after an hour), and I'm going to give sweing a go. I think I'll start with curtains and bags though, clothes seem complicated;)

Those are really cute. I sew (I learned when I was around 10 years old). I just wish I had more hours in the day *SIGH* I make most of my work clothes and I HATE home dec stuff. Which is why my sofa STILL needs re-covering, even with all the supplies at hand :giggle
