I'm looking at my gallery, and I noticed I started the month with the first two challenges... then nothing for a couple weeks and I remembered that was the anniversary of my mom's passing (two years ago) as well as my cousin (last year). My dad fell of his roof that day. Nov. 7. We had had a wind storm come through here in Maine, and nearly a quarter million homes were without power. We lost ours for 5 days (hence my late entry for the October challenges). My dad was a "lucky" resident and did not lose power. However the neighbors tree came down on his roof! The insurance man had come to tell my dad the repairs were covered, so he went up to remove the branches that had speared the roof like a medieval weapon! He slipped and fell, fractured three ribs and ruptured his spleen. Had his friend not been there at the time, he would have bleed to death! He required 6 units of blood during and after surgery. He also suffered a head injury and had two brain bleeds. It was up and down for a while, but after nearly two weeks he went to rehab. He is scheduled to come home on Friday.

This morning I woke to the news that my cousin, 40, had passed away. His brother died last year of the same heart condition - he was 46. Our family is feeling very sad as you can imagine! Wondering why this is happening to all those around us.

Thank you for letting me vent a little. I would ask if you are a person of faith that you would please hold my aunt and uncle up in prayer.

Oh no. What a tough time your family has been having. Hope things turn around soon. And how sad about your cousin xxx

oh no! So sorry to hear of all your loss. I'll be keeping you all in my prayers, Kairyn! BIG HUGS!

Oh dear, this is a lot to happen to your family. I will keep all of you in my prayers. Keep hugging each other!

I'm sorry! That's a lot to deal with all at once. Those storms are wicked in the East! And with all the power lines above ground - blah. I'm sorry for your loses, and that your dad ended up so hurt! Feel free to vent away. Lots of virtual hugs to you. :grouphug

Kairyn, you are certainly dealing with a lot right now. I will remember your loved ones and you in prayer with all that has happened.

I really don't know how you are dealing Kairyn, but I'm totally crossing my fingers that December is so much better for you and you or your Dad like win the lottery or something because you must have some good karma coming to balance all this out!

oh @KairynLisa I am so sorry for your family's loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. This is such a very tough time for a lot of people, but oh my so very difficult for you. Hugs my dear and I do hope as Justine @bellbird said that December is much better for you and your Dad. Prayers for your family as well as speedy recovery wishes for your Dad.

So sorry for your losses and for your father's injuries. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry! Thinking of you, your family and friends. Hoping things start to get better and brighter.

Gosh that is a lot to deal with. I'm so sorry about the loss of your cousin -- losing people so young always feels very unfair and especially on top of the other losses your family has suffered in the past year or so. I'm glad your Dad will be coming home soon and I hope that he will have a steady recovery and you all can find some peace and comfort during the holidays. Hugs!

Oh my goodness Kairyn. I am so sorry for you and your family. I can't even begin to imagine how you are all feeling. Huge but gentle hugs to you. I hope your Dad is D/Cd tomorrow. And wish him a speedy recovery. That is too much for one family to deal with at once. Thinking of all of you and hoping for peace for you & your family. Keep us updated on how he is doing (and how you are doing!!) ... we are here if you need to talk/vent/etc. :beat

Wow - so much going on in you and your family's lives! I will definitely whisper prayers for all of you!! We're here for you if you need to cry, vent or rant!!! Sending you (((hugs)))!

Prayers for you and your family. So much to deal with. Just breath, take it one minute at a time, and get through this sad time. I hope things turn around for you and your family and am sending positive happy vibes to you all.

Thank you ladies! Sometimes a new day gives a new perspective! It's nice to know I have a place to unload when necessary. (((hugs))) to all of you!

Oh my goodness! Any one of those things would be a lot to handle and you've had so many on top of each other. Be sure to take care of yourself while helping to take care of everyone else and I'll say prayers for peace and comfort for the grief of loss and for your Dad's healing.
