WOOT. OK, so the snow in the South is not pretty. Well, it's pretty. Gorgeous actually. But we are so ill prepared for it that many, many were stuck on the highways and in their schools all night long. I have a friend who has a preschooler at school all night with teachers and her husband was in his car all night. (fortunately, they set up warming stations along the highway and every so often he walked 1/2 mile to one to warm up). And SEVERAL other friends who were stranded in motels/restaurants/stores, etc. all night. Some kids in Atlanta were stuck on school buses all night. Nightmare.

Aside from all of that, my family is tucked away at home. No school. My office is closed until the roads clear a bit. And I am battling the the ice to get some pictures of the beautiful and rare sight, almost falling on my bootie more than once. Thinking all the while about how I'm gonna scrap them, :giggle.

Kids are being wimps b/c they don't have proper snow attire and are "cold" outside. Well, yeah! LOL. It just doesn't look so cold in the movie Frozen, hehe.

Anyway, prayers for those who are cold and stuck. And excited for my photo ops.

OK, you folks who get like 50 inches every day can make fun of me now. (we got about 3 inches where I am)

Enjoy your snow day! I'm glad someone can enjoy this winter weather. I know we're not up here!

We had our second non snow day yesterday. The kids were out of school bc of the threat of ice from the recent rain, but still no snow. They are back at school this morning. We too lack proper snow attire in our area so we are among the crowd that lose our marbles when the temps drop below freezing. It just doesn't happen that often.

Enjoy your snow photo opps Jen!! :)

I hope everyone gets home and is warm and safe soon! And you are back some warmer southern weather.

It's so funny.. here in the north country (NH) - we can get a foot of snow - or a blizzard - and not miss a beat - get up in the morning, snow blow, drive to work while it's still snowing and not even be late for work! Things are usually back to normal within a few hours of the snow ending. It must be so tough though when you are not prepared for the cold weather.. no winter cloths or sanding/salting, plowing protocol in your town... makes it a little scary.

Everyone north of the Mason Dixon line is saying that. And I completely understand. We are just not prepared for it. People are STILL stranded on the roads in Atlanta and Birmingham. Over 800 accidents in Atlanta reported. The police aren't even responding unless there are injuries. It's crazy.

There was at least one baby born on the interstate last night. Can you imagine? What a story to tell!

Sort of like rain in the desert. My DH is from Southern California (DESERT) and when it barely sprinkles they freak out and everything shuts down. Their roads flood and everything closes. I used to laugh at them for it b/c it rains here just about every stinkin' day. I don't anymore :).

I'm expecting tons of snow pages from you and all the southern peeps.

Jen we got 10 inches here in Va Bch and it is the most snow they have had in forever... I took pics.. we are not shoveling as we aren't going anywhere and it will be 50 by the weekend so it will go away.

I felt terrible/ feel terrible for y'all there in Atlanta area with people in their cars, kids stuck at school etc. The one woman had a baby on the side of 285! I just remember we lived down at the airport area college park, and worked up by Northlake Mall/Laurenceville and I would cringe when there was an accident... it would take twice as long to get home by going the other side of the loop. I cannot even imagine being stuck there no bathroom in a car for 15 or more hours... glad you are home safe and sound and with your family... This storm surely kicked us but I am enjoying due to not having to go anywhere.

I heard about so many people and kids getting stranded. That is crazy! I sure hope that everyone gets home safely and things get thawed out for you!

I'm looking foreward to pictures! Today was our first day back to school since Thursday. We had some snow, but mostly it was the arctic windchills that kept the kids home this time. It's been a crazy winter for sure!

I'm a southern people. One of the frozen ones. :giggle
So far we have had 2 snow days where school was closed, and not a lick of snow.

I'm expecting tons of snow pages from you and all the southern peeps.

It's pretty scary! I was watching the news and looking at the pics online - wow - just so many stranded on the highways and everywhere. I do hope people can get home soon and are safe.

Rainy days are my favorite Disneyland days. Because all the Southern Californians stay home, so it's just the tourists:)

Weather is scary when you aren't prepared, and especially when it's out of the ordinary.
