How does it work that the days of raising children seems to take FOREVER, you wonder if you're doing it right, if they will ever make it to adulthood safely and responsibly. The need to poke fingers into electrical outlets and play with matches etc. The drudgery of everyday ordinary routines stretching ahead for years. And then you blink and 21 years is nearly over and he is ready to fly the nest and I am the one that says wait a minute, how did this happen when I blinked? @MrsPeel do you feel the same?

I know exactly how you feel. I blinked and one is now almost 26 and one almost 22. Both are on their own with their own families and lives.

i just saw this gorgeous spread in the gallery! i love this idea for a page. and i think about what you are saying every.single.day since they started High School.

mine are 15 and almost 17 ... and i feel like i am trying NOT to blink every single minute of each day. i do guilt them by saying "hey you are going to be gone soon - stay and hang out a little longer" whether at the dinner table or chatting at the coffee pot on a weekend morning. or i try to grab one just to go run errands with me so we can talk one on one. it really does go so so fast.

What a great spread!

Mine are 13 and 9 and I feel this every day. Every year seems to go by quicker. :sigh:

oh yes... I'm amazed that they are 8 and 12, already! That seems like it went by too fast! I can't imagine 21 or even high school yet. Ugh. I am similar to Jenn... we do a lot together, even snuggle to play games together on one of our devices, and talk a little more.

I'm sure this wasn't your intention but you made me cry! Mine are 16 and 14 and it's going so fast! I always wanted them to grow up to be more independent but I don't want them go out and have lives or their own!-)

Yay for homeschooling! I think my kids' childhoods might be going by a little more slowly for me because I'm immersed in their lives. That's really why I chose to homeschool: to spend more time with my kids. I didn't have any issues with school before I had kids. I'd hardly even heard of homeschooling. But I came across the idea in some online parenting groups when my oldest was a baby and did some research. The article that struck me the hardest was one that described how much time and freedom school takes away from families.

Now mine are only 15, 13, and 10, so we have yet to see how I'll feel when they're 21, I admit! I will report back when that time comes. :D

p.s. My son still says he doesn't want to grow up so he may never leave me. ;)

Oh I LOVE that layout! I can't even think about mine leaving the house yet. I'm just trying to soak it all in still. Mine are 10 and 12 and they still like me and talk to me and stuff. I'm not ready for them to grow anymore!

Love the double page spread you did with those wonderful photos. He has such a great smile, your handsome boy! Isn't it just mindboggling how the time just flies? My girls are grown and the grandkids are now growing up so fast and some days I wonder, how did this happen?

I know how you feel. My oldest turned 30 last month! I am not old enough to have a 30 year old child!!!
I like both my kids as adults and that seems to help!

I adore your layout! I'm not ready for the time to fly yet. Mine's only turning 7 next month, and I'm in denial still.

Mine are almost 26, almost 20, and 15. Yes, it seems like just awhile ago. My oldest has his own house and works, but we see him twice a week most weeks. He still goes on vacations with us. My second is in college, so we see him on weekends and I can still mother him. Then our "baby" is still at home. But it sure is quiet during the week when it is just the 3 of us.

Seems like it was just yesterday....

My daughter is 21!! But, my son is almost 4... I am on both ends of it at the same time!! Beautiful spread! I love it!!

Huggles!!
~Sarah~

You've created such a beautiful keepsake Stefanie!! Yes! Time marches on so quickly!
Our son is now a man and has babies of his own. I have reminded him several times to embrace these years, because they fly by too quickly!

Yes! My oldest just started High School this year and I think about it every day! She's talking about driving and getting a job and going to college. Ugh! But I am so proud of her!

I feel like it may be harder for those of us who homeschool. I've grown to love having my kids with me everyday, all day (for the most part!) and I'm having a hard time seeing what the next 3-4 years are going to bring for my oldest. With her possibly getting a job, maybe doing dual enrollment, going to college in a few years... her having her own schedule & not being free to join us on our outings & vacations...it makes me sad. She's going to a piano clinic this weekend with her teacher and few other students. Seriously, she's going to be gone for 2 days and I already miss her.

My girls are almost 31 and 29. That's still hard to believe, too.

Thanks for blessing my heart with all your amazing responses.
the irony is that the oldest (23) stays at home still, but he and the girlfriend are very serious so a wedding is on the cards.
The middlest (nearly 21) thinks he has moved out and into digs when Varsity is on, but I still get to do his grocery shopping and washing on the weekends. Then the baby is 17 and just learning to drive - they can get their licenses at 18 here so it's a tumultuous time. High school seems to be especially whooshing by.

Oh my yes! My 'baby' is 17 and a Senior in HS and my oldest is 29. The things that really take you back is, watching them get married! The HARDEST thing I did as a mother is helping my daughter pack up and move 1300 miles away! Thank you to today's technology that at any point I can FaceTime and see her while we visit.

Ohhh, I so loved reading all these responses!!! So many memories for me since my five are 56 down to 40. I am watching the great grandbabies grow-----way too fast for me!!!! Cherish every moment!!!!

I don't want to talk about it! LOL I remember thinking, when my son was in 8th grade, "Wow, next year you will be in high school. High school!!" And now, I'm thinking, "This time next year, you will be ready to graduate from high school." Love this layout!
