how's everyone settling into..

back to school time? i know some folks aren't back yet.. and some of you have had your kids back for weeks already :giggle

we're on day two here.. connor already played dead this morning and said he wasn't going :thumbsdowns obviously, i made him go anyway :p

Ask me next week! LOL My son Ian will be starting school on Wednesday.....first grade!

Mine starts grade 1 on tuesday! I hate that she will be gone from me all day, but i am so looking forward to quiet uninterrupted scrap time!!!

What are you all packing for lunches?!

I'm a lazy mom. water bottle, bologna, cheese + mustard sammich, banana, teddy grahams. the end. lol

Day four, it's kicking my butt! The schedule and juggling is killing me. I have one in elementary and one in high school. The high schooler has so much going on it's just...brain scrambling, and trying to be in multiple places at once, not fun. And I hate homework :blush (and that one particular child is a PITA about it)

oh and I make my kids pack their own lunches. Salads, wraps, etc. I supply the groceries. ;)

The kiddos are doing pretty well. We've had one full week of school now. The first grader is doing full days for the first time, and at around 4PM he's been in full meltdown mode. He is getting better...slowly.

My kids bring sandwiches and fruit for lunch but they actually prefer to eat a hot lunch. Our school uses whole grain everything and doesn't fry anything so I'm okay with cafeteria food as long as it's not everyday.

lots of First Graders here!!! Mia started 1st too, a few weeks ago....it's soooo nice having the house to myself ALL DAY LONG! I do get lonely though- hahahahhaa

carolee- i hear ya on the full meltdown mode by 4.....Mia too....mornings also, are not much fun....oy

as for lunch.....i jumped on the Bento bandwagon....its pretty fun!

I'm not a mom or a student... but instead, a more recent graduate. I miss the "start" of school season. It felt like such a nice "beginning." and a time to get things back on track.

Right now I'm struggling to find that new place between a summer job and a "fall" job (finishing up an internship) and I'm finding that without school, that "starting over" point is fuzzier!

So to answer the question... Settling in isn't going so easy! :(

We started Monday. The kids seems to be doing well. Biggest road bumps so far are that DS is in a different lunch period than his friends, but he seems to have found some others to eat with now, and that DD for the first time ever has the same teacher that DS had... and she happens to be the only teacher that DH and I absolutely couldn't stand. We're grinning and bearing it. DD seems to like the teacher so far, although she has already noticed some things that have her commenting and scratching her head, so we'll see how it goes.

As for me, the sleep adjustment seems to be hitting me harder than the kids. I've spent the better part of the week in zombie mode, but they come home from school still all full of energy. So.not.fair. :giggle

My Emma doesn't start till next week Tuesday, but she's already pumped for the new year! (And she's in 8th grade!) I wonder how long that will last... :thinking2

After over a week, I FINALLY have both kids back in school--my daughter has a case of walking flu, and my son is getting over it, after missing six days of school (one week in). My daughter missed two days from having the flu. She probably should have taken today off, too, but she has a couple of AP classes she can't afford to miss.

As for lunches-she packs her own, and my son generally gets a deli meat sandwich, a snack (fruit, cheese stick, granola bar, etc) and a drink.

Both Hubs and SS started last week (I think -- LOL!). It's weird not having Hubs home until late on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We haven't seen much of SS, either, who has football until mid-October.

Since Monkey has decided she's going to be in diapers forever, I'm not worried abt her going off to school! :thumbsdowns:giggle

My kiddos are all grown but the grandkids are working on Week 2 of 'Doom & Gloom' days! But, even though I don't have kids in school these days, I do feel its a good time for me and my family to start 'Fresh'! And it just means that fall is getting closer!

This is me too!! The girl is adjusting to college, I'm adjusting to living with just three males (ugh). The boys are both old enough to not need me to nag them for every last thing. I don't even have to pack lunches this year for the first time. My allergy boy is going to brave it with highschool lunch. I was giving him all sorts of advice and he's like "Mom...I'm not going to try and kill myself the first week of school." Okie dokie then.

Really...I need to figure out how to schedue myself during the day. Getting work done, getting some exercise, planning meals, housework, etc. It's too easy to veg out and do nothing!

Kenzie is on day 4 of 6th grade/Junior high and so far has loved it. Only issue is her locker on her locker broke so she has had issues, but she thinks middle school is cool and loves her teachers. She got both Art and Choir that were her first choice of electives. I am sure once the homework starts, it will be less fun. lol.

We're on our first week here as well (I homeschool so it's a little different for us) and it's kicking me in the rear. I feel like I'm so behind with everything, and we've already had our trials. But for the most part DD is doing pretty well. We've been done by 3:30 each day and that's even with a couple of days late start so all in all I'm hopeful that once we settle into a routine it'll get better.

mine go back next week and one of mine is moving up into high school so im not looking forward to all the homework either

My little lady is starting on Tuesday next week. It's her first year (junior K) and I am a little bit of a wreck lol. We will see who holds up better :p

My 2nd grader started Monday and I'm not gonna lie, mornings have been rough. I put him to bed a decent hour, he just can't seem to fall asleep any sooner! Which means I have to drag him out of bed and practically dress and feed him so he'll make it on time. My other boy went to Kindergarten for the first time today. He was SO ready which made it easy on me, plus it's only half day so it won't be too big of an adjustment. My afternoon was so quiet and productive with both boys gone, and V napping! I'm going to enjoy that until my world is rocked by baby #4 in November.
