How to?? color code layers

Probably not in the correct forum and apologize in advance.
The 'Detailed Layout' MOC template from Sara Gleason had color coded layers.

Does anyone know how to do this to your own layers?

In CC, right click over the "eye" that turns the layer on and off and it will give you the option to change the color

In Photoshop, you can right click on the layer and at the bottom of the options panel that pops up, you can select one of the colors.

it's a neat feature.

in photoshop cs, right click on the layer and at the bottom it says 'no color', 'red', etc. click one of the colors.

I'm not sure if it can be done in elements.

You can't do it PSE 8, at least, but you can in all versions of PS.
