I was looking back at my creative journey and I am at awe with the different stages of my scrapping journey....

Take a look, I stared of in 2011 :
Traditional kinda page (shadow was just shadow to me back then).

Then in 2012 :
I tried Art Journalling kinda page.. (without knowing how to blend etc)

Then in late 2012:
Inspired by one of the scrapper Carly , I started a freestyle kinda page and it has to look like I filled up the whole page

In 2013:
Al I wanted to do was extract photos (hated the process but it was a learning process for me )

Late 2013 :
White space but heavy clustering

Early 2014 :
I SWEAR I DID TRY PL KINDA PAGE!!!! I think I failed big time

Mid 2014 :
creating realistic shadows were my main goal at that time ..

totally out of the box kinda thing, wanted to have my elements look like it's blown away so I distort my elements

End of 2014 :
trying really hard to create clean and simple pages and also have it look realistic

I also started sketching and I turned my doodles and sketches into digital so that I can scrap about it

2015 :
More practice on my clean and simple page

Currently :
I'm still creating all the above.

Future :
Hybrids. And maybe turning my paintings into digital and have it in a store.

So how has your journey of scrapping been like for you? Are you doing anything different? Or maybe you want to learn something new in the near future?

This is one of my first pages.

I used to try to FILL UP the page, but now I'm a white space girl.
I like to think my shadowing has gotten WAY better. :giggle
I've gotten WAY pickier about my supplies. Literally everything on this page was a freebie.
I've always enjoyed trying new things (check out my first OOB!) but obviously what is new to me changes all the time. :)

this is my first layout...
but I have to say I already had experience in Photoshop (retouching is hardwork ladies :D)

Wow, Li Li, this is a great thread. I love how you documented the progression by year. I'm going to look through my old layouts and see what I can come up with because now I'm curious about my progression. I do know my scrapping progression is also my computer and PSE progression because I was a novice in all three.

Cath... It looks like you have progress from no shadow to awesome layouts!!! lol.

I kinda stalked your gallery... noticed that you took a break in between 2012-2014.. and when you came back, it was slightly different ... I have used Photoshop all along but I use more tools now. I even have lightroom now which I hardly use. Even my art journalling pages have evolved.. I was going through hell last few years and the pages were mostly about pain, rage, anger.. now it seems more COLOURFUL!! HAHAHAH..

I'm looking forward to seeing yours!!!

fun, fun...I went back to first uploaded long ago..
2008
I was in love with extractions...and doing it without masks...little pixel at a time..but so much fun. I do cringe at the harsh shadow work.

2009
Taking the Out of Bounds photos to new levels...I couldn't separate style layers here, so duplicated and started making my own shadows...hadn't learned about Gaussian Blur yet!

2010..
still extracting, but learning about blending and reflections...

then I met a woman no longer in digscrap..misbehaving...and she tutured me about shadows and brushes and really playing with my program...

Art journaling was drawing me...with heavy on titlework.

2011
Art journaling was my scrap!

2012
blending was my fav on textures

I came to The Lily Pad...oh what a lovely time!
2013
and then the Month of Challenges debuted...and I was hooked...and my memory keeping went with the challenges, and the amount of pages a month was intensified. Istarted scrapping more chronological:
Using templates more, and alphas like mad!

2014
Week in the LIfe became something I so enjoyed...project life is still a bit overwhelming to me! lol but I can do a week!

2015
I have a good camera with my phone...and I learn a whole new process:

WOW!!! ANNE I LOVE THE VARIETY OF STYLE…. I gotta do more of the out of bound style!!! YOU ARE AMAZING… i will need to try out some of your stuff...

So many styles!

I started out with flat, exclusive double pages, with lots of flowers and clusters.
Now... I tend to lean toward clean, blocky, photo centric, and still love flowers.

I LOVED seeing the progression that you posted LiLi! It's truly cool to see it over the layouts and to read what you wrote for each part.

and my two favorite from this year... both made within the last 2 weeks (iNSD goodies I got)

My first page in 09 was made from this book.... which I still own.

Then, I didn't scrap until 2011... I made this 20 page album as a gift for my husband's anniversary gift. In 2012, I found blog trains, and downloaded anything and everything that was free :giggle:thumbsdowns. I purchased my first kit (and used it multiple times!) in 2012 also. I didn't have much time to actually scrap a lot, so I made Christmas cards, party invites, birth announcements, etc. In 2014, I discovered iNSD, and bought a membership to a different store, and started participating in some of their challenges. Didn't last long. This year, I'm back to downloading anything and everything, but i usually pay for it :giggle

So, I'm trying to scrap more. I'm IN LOVE with art journally stuff right now.... and I like the idea of the white-space scrapping, but haven't ever felt I had the "right words" to make meaningful pages with so little.

I'm also diggin' the idea of scrapping on my phone. I have tried with a few apps, but mostly they take just as much time, and not as much freedom.

I still have many old kits.. I'm a hoarder I love elements .. Lol!! I love your pages

Oh!! KLEE!! Your AJ pages are amazing.. If only I could get digital scrapping books in Malaysia , I would have learned everything faster :) . I'm a self taught Photoshop user. It's amazing watching how one's creativity evolved a long the way.

Kari!! Your clean and simple pages looks so pretty. Omg!! So much of difference compared to your recent years of layouts.as always I admire your pages.. I remember you were going through some rough time and that was the time I was inspired to create AJ pages like yours.

Thank you!! I'm thinking those are going to be my... "just because" pages. My family doesn't get as much out of looking at them as I do... the stories, pics, and traditional stuff, at the very least elicits memories from others. I think I'm truly coming to terms with this. Lol

Wow. Talk about massive element use! LOL! Looking back on some of my first pages, I didn't realize I was ever capable of putting that much stuff onto one page! :lmao Hard to believe I've shifted from that to a clean and simple scrapper!
