make the text that usually goes as texture on the background of digital pages print out so that it doesn't look ilke it's been printed out and stuck on? I hope I'm making sense. I'm talking about this:

When I print it up, it's on white paper, and the white shows. IS there another way to print it up or do I just have to lump it until I can buy stamps/ink pad with text on it?

Here is what I would do....
If you want to get a stamped effect without actually stamping.
Add the text to the background like you normally would digitally before you print, then after you print, use a tiny paint brush and add little paint over the letters. Doesn't have to fill in the text completely, just add a little texture with a very little bit of paint. Maybe even use some mod podge or white glue mixed into the paint. That would raise it up a little more than painting directly on the print out. There's probably a better way, but this is just what I would do. :-) Good luck!

(Edited to add that I just realized you were talking about the black text on the background not the white title LOL....so embarrassing)

First of all, thank you for answering. I've been talking to myself in a lot of these threads the past few days! LOLOL

Not embarrassing at all - that's a great idea!! With the black text, I can probably use the same technique. I just need to get a printer that works and I will try it. I can rip out my page from my journal, print it on the actual paper, and then paint and embellish it afterward! Worth a try!!

Susie, I often use just plain ol' white tissue paper and stamp on it, paint on it etc etc. then stick that down in my journal using matte medium. The tissue paper sort of become 'clear' and blends into the background paper. You can tear the tissue paper as well. Plenty of things you can do with tissue paper! lol! You can also print on it but as you have no printer at the moment I would just go with the painting and stamping. :) Also napkins...... make sure to to tear the white backing sheets off the napkins, they are normally two or three ply so you will have either 2 or 3 white back sheets.......... don't throw those away, stamp and paint just like you would with tissue paper above. Just searh Youtube for napkins............ you said you like Jesson Art, as you know she uses a lot of napkins in her work so you can use them as a focus or just as a backround. :)

If you print on clear sticker paper, the background shows through. However, since it is rather slick, paint probably would not stick to it??

I am just now getting into inks (have not jumped into paint yet). But I have printed painty mixed media type stuff on the clear sticker paper to use as background. I have also printed text on it and put it over printed paper, etc.

I will definitely try that technique out!!

Printing on tissue paper works pretty well... it's just a paint to have to tape the tissue paper down on a regular piece of paper and then print... It's just one more step, ya know? But it does work.

The other thing I've done is use transfer paper. Print the title or text you want to add to your journal on plain white paper and then trace it in place on your art... then you can fill it in with a marker or paint and it'll still look more "printed" than if you just free hand it. (I have TERRIBLE handwriting, so I'm always looking for cheater methods to get good text in my art)
