How do you scrap fast?

My scrapping completely changed when I started using templates. I can crank out a page in no time now. I used to sit for hours, HOURS, trying to figure out a page design. It just doesn't come naturally to me. Now, I hardly ever scrap without a template and I love that I can let someone else worry about the part that I don't like, page design, and I can just focus on telling my story!!

This is so me!

Another tip that helps me is to plan my album by putting a text box on each blank page of what I want to include. That helps me figure out which are 2 page spreads and which are 1 pagers. It also helps me organize so that the 2 page ones land on 2 facing pages. It also helps when I come back to work to know where I left off and what pictures to grab next.

The other thing I find helpful is that if I am missing some information or a picture for a page, I will put a big bright pink or red X across the whole page. That gets my attention and let's me know I need to work on it.

There are some great tips in here and those pages are gorgeous Jan!

I have done a couple of "fast" projects and this is how I make it move. I start by organizing my photos like someone else said...each event or day into a folder so I can see what I'll have to do for pages. (I did a wedding album for my sister so it was like before ceremony, vows, bridesmaids etc etc) Then I take out a spreadsheet and number it for each page in the book and put the folder name in each slot so I know where all the pages go. I'll glance at the photos so I can see if it needs to be a two page spread or not. This takes a bit of time but I find I can fly through the book if I have this all organized.

Then, to help with the actual scrapping, I pick a set of templates to use for the whole book because less choice is better. I might use an album or I may just pick some coordinating sets, like Cheryl often has in her store. I used her Fuss Free: Last Minute 1 & 2 sets for my sister's wedding album (those aren't in the store here, I don't think). I'll only pick a few kits that work for the book, too. In this case, it was a certain colour scheme. I'll dump these all into a separate folder on my desktop so I don't have to go looking for them, either. So, my credit lists are sometimes long but it's all found really quickly.

Generally though, I'm a pretty slow scrapper :)

I am no help because I am terrible at scrapping fast! I do it for Speed Scraps but they always look terrible! Some pages I do take me days to finish because I hate them so i walk away and keep coming back day after day and changing something until i am happy with it. Other times I have an idea in my head and it just wont play out the way i want it to so I spend hours trying to get it just right or just give up and start over. I would say that over half my pages I am not really happy with. Then I have a day here and there where I can throw out three or four pages in a day. I dont know why it just all flows for some reason. I wish I had more days like that.

I will usually choose a set of templates (Hello to SWL's Daily Life Templates!!!) that have templates with varying photo spots. Then I'll slap down the photos and choose a kit to complement the photos. I also do minimal embellishments concentrating more on the photos and writing out the story.

I did 10 pages in 2 days in January 2015 by using this method (at a very busy retreat!) Then in February I spent a weekend working on more of those vacation pictures... did 14 pages in 2 days here at home. Using 1 kit for multiple pages made it go quicker.

I am not a fast scrapper either :)
