How do you plan out a week?

I tried planners but I was erasing and crossing out too much so I decided to use full size scraps in the plastics to plan out the week. I get a basic idea of the pics I'm going to use then I type in my journaling (CS4). I print those out on basic cardstock in draft mode to save ink. Once the journal cards go in their 3x4 spots I can see how the pics will work out. Then I edit and order them from winkflash. When I'm unsure of a particular spot I might crop a photo in 2 different ways, or different sizes. I write notes on the scraps so that when the pics arrive I know how I wanted them to go. After that it's all fine-tuning. I'm still waiting on amazon to restock and I plan on using all design A but for now I'm using the C's or F's that I have and pretending they are As. Once I get the actual A's and the grid cards I'll be ready to finalize the weeks I've done already. So here is my week 4 in it's early stage. It's difficult to see all the notes b/c they are in pencil. I'm not using a core kit, only b/c I already own SO much paper, ribbon, etc. and I really want to use my stash. If I did buy one it would be Clementine. I'm still spending $$$ though, washi tapes, tiny attacher, smash book stuff, etc. LOL

How do you plan?

GrEAT IDEA!!!
I have been editing photos as I go and putting them in a "week 4" (or whatever week it is) then on Sat night or Sunday after church I look over my photos and decide which ones I want to print and in which size.
I then draw out on a pieces of regular paper my page protectors (2 pages) and write in which pics I want to go where. Once I format them for printing (I use Lilis templates) I make a STAR next to the photo in my drawing I then save those file in my print file Week4 Print1 and so on and so on.
Once I print out my pictures I then put them in the pockets along with any other memorabilia (reciepts, business cards etc) in their pokcets. Then I pull my journaling cards and start filling from there! :)

I made myself some rough templates in PS that I plan mine out on. When I know I have a pic I want to use then I edit it for the size pocket I want it in and go ahead and save to a To Be Printed folder. Then I place it on the template where it will go in the page protector. I also have a sheet open all the time of printables I want to print and add them to the template too. So far it's working for me this way so I can do a little throughout the week. That way when Sunday comes I can just send my pics to be printed and get it done.

i make an album in iPhoto for the week and bring all my photos in there on Saturday. And i use OhLife for the notes. Then I muck around in PS with too many photos for the week!!

You are now scaring me about doing paper pages! I am not organized like that at all...digi-wise I just start scrapping and add on or change as needed. I was planning on doing the same with my paper pages (once they get the plastic pages back in stock.)!

I fly by the seat of my pants because every week is so different here. Lol. I have found I like taking headshots a lot so I'm working on broadening my lenses.

THIS. lol

I am doing P365 digitally, and I just pick my templates for each 2 week spread (I made them all in advance), add the papers and a few elements, and then just keep them open during the week. Every day or 2 I plop a photo in there, and when the week is done, I add the journaling and a few last elements/tweaks.

Wonder could you make 12x12 templates that match your page protectors, and add all the stuff to those and just get 12x12s printed and then cut them up? Seems like it would work since the seams in the page protectors would leave room for cutting etc.

But that's great! I wish I could be like that. I freeze up too quickly by indecision so for me, I have to see the whole week (all the pics, journaling, extras) before I can settle on where to put what. Maybe if I printed the pics at home it would be easier. I haven't paper scrapped in years and years so maybe after I get the swing of things I won't have to be so AR about it. (but I doubt it) ;)

I just sit and start working on it. No planning here! Earlier this week I was able to get Mon-thurs complete for week 4. Now I just need to finish it. I did find some templates that you can print out and use to help you in advance. Let me go find them!

Marcy Penner has a free set of pdf downloads on her blog of the different page protectors. You could just make copies and jot notes on them and toss at the end of the week.

Well, that's pretty brilliant!

Well for my journaling, I use Oh Life. So if I forget some details I just look back.

For my photos, I browse through my iPhoto and pull all of the photos I want to use into a folder for that week. Then I look at how many I have of each orientation. I pick my template based on that (I'm all digital). I go through the pictures again and figure out which ones I *really* want to use, and then place them in the templates. Then I place journaling cards. Journal, title & embellish - in that order.

I don't plan the weeks ahead of time or as the week goes on. I spend about 2 hours on PL on either Sunday or Monday (I run my weeks Monday-Sunday).

same here... One Sunday or Monday, I just open up LR and edit the pictures I want to use and put them in my layout... tho, I'm doing all digital... and then I fill the rest with the rest of the goodies and journal about the week.

I look at my shots on Thursday or Friday, and format them for printing based on (1) how much I like the shot, (2) what story goes with it, and (3) if it's of a person or a thing. I pick those up when I am ready to start working on the week, lay my album out and arrange my pics and then go back and fill in the journal cards and whatnot. I am usually a big planner, but I am detemined to go withthe flow on this project, so that it doesn't become too overwhelming. :)

I don't plan at all..totally wing it...i do have the memory logbook that I jot notes in...but other than that I'm just printing and hoping everything fits (i'm going to be sooo busy when the plastics come back in stock). I'm trying not to stress too much over this so hopefully it goes smoothly. :)

THIS is almost exactly what i do! I made my templates to match the page protectors so that i could visually see how and where i want my photo's and mostly the size of them. BUT since they are 12x12 and i print at home 8.5x11, i just grab my photo's that have been clipped to size over to my blank 8.5x11 sheet and print away....

I just wing the "designing" and journaling as i go along...usually coming back to print/type a few of my cards as i'm putting my week together....
