How do you add words/elements over photos?

Hi. I see lots of you put words or elements over your photos. Do you actually make the words/elements part of your photo on a program like photoshop? Do you print out your photo then adhere things on top of them? Do you put elements on top of the plastic? I'm very intimidated by putting things on my photos in any of these ways. Any advice for using elements or words on your photos in a way that adds to your photo rather than just being more stuff? Thanks!

For me, I use Photoshop to add the word art to my pictures then print them out and other times, I just print out the elements and staple or stitch them to the actual photo (which is why it's called hybrid).

i use photoshop. i either use some wordart or photo kisses that are premade or i just free hand something or use the text tool. :) Go for it! :D

I use the text tool on most of my photos. If not that, I add a layer with a label, then text tool over that. All in PSE for me.

i'm not doing PL but from long ago paper scrapping experience, i used to like using rubons and pens on my photos too. But most of mine was done in PS. Anything goes!

I'm all over the place on this, but I had already decided I was going to be really eclectic with my PL this year, so I just do what I feel like on any given day.

Sometimes, I treat the photos as little 4 x 6 digital LOs. So, I "scrap" the whole thing digitally and then print it out and stick it in my book.

Sometimes, I just put a tiny bit of font work on a photo and keep it simple.

Sometimes I print things out or buy paper line stuff and put them directly on my photos too. You can see a few examples of that in my gallery.

I also put things on top of the plastic protectors. I just don't have any good photos of those examples at the moment. I *really* need to take some more PL album shots.

Anyways, my best advice to not to beafraid! Play around and try some different methods. It really can't hurt...and I actually find it very freeing creatively.
