How do people do ragu sauces?

Hubby's grandmother's recipe has been in the stove 1 hr and needs to 3 more... I don't think I can stand the amazing floral smell of it drowning me and wanting me to keep trying it.. just in case in the last 15mins somehow it got "salty" all by itself! :whistle
 
I made it in the crock pot once. It was pretty tasty, but I like the jarred kind too lol
 
I think we've well established around here that I am a pretty simple (read lazy) cook. I buy jars of sauce. Tastes good to me and it fast and easy.
 
Don't get me wrong I like Hunts Pasta sauce BUT great-grandma's sauce is FREAKING AMAZING!!!!

btw. turned pretty good, not as good as hers, she might be holding on to the secret ingredient... LOL!!!
 
Food always tastes better when someone else did the work, LOL!
 
I get a wild hair from time to time to make it the "hard" way... but most times I can handle using the jar stuff.
