Actually, this year isn't too bad. My oldest has decided he's too cool to dress up (13), the next one is being a soldier and we pretty much had all his stuff laying around the house. The next is borrowing a costume from his grandpa, and my daughter's is the only one I'm actually making this year. I'd say I'm 3/4 done. A little bit more paper mache tomorrow and some painting and we should be set! Famous last words...
My daughter is going cheap as a werewolf this year, and my son decided on a repeat store bought costume. He had the same costume a few years ago, but now he's adult sized, not a little kid!
DS's is store bought, but I made most of my DD's costume, and somehow I managed to do it all in one day, LAST week. I am never this early. Now to take photos!
We're ready to go. We have a church event every year that is at least a week or more before Halloween, so that forces me to get their costumes done EARLY! This year the church event was Oct 20th! They both love Minecraft, so I made them box heads like Steve and a Creeper. You can actually buy them on Amazon for $30, but I was too cheap, so I made my own. And I made a cool diamond sword too. I was going to go all out and do square cardboard bodies for each of them, but thankfully that told me they didn't want to wear those for trick or treating because it's too hard to see where they are going. SO, for Halloween they are each wearing a costume from a garbage bag full of costumes they received from a freind this summer. One is going to be a pirate and the other is a skeleton. They are both very excited.
My youngest is recycling an old costume of his big brother's, and my oldest's is put together with stuff we have from home or have borrowed. I only bought colored hair spray and some cheap goggles.
DD8 is wearing a recycled costume. DD5 I haven't started making hers but have all the supplies need. EEKS!!! DD2 Is wearing a recycled costume. DD1 is wearing a recycled costume. The funny thing about the recycled costumes is all the girls said what they wanted to be and I'm like "Done! We already have that costume!" Love when the kids are kind to me and don't make me work too hard on their costumes! Now I just need to find time today to get DD5's done or else she me a very unhappy costume-less Raspberry Torte tomorrow!
Miller is a squid. Here is a picture before it was complete. I basically just had to add more tentacles, the finished product doesn't look too much different from this. He'll just wear a red long sleeved shirt and dark pants and we'll call it done. I had it finished a couple weeks ago. It was really easy.
My mom and I made costumes for the girls. They're going as cookies and milk! We're completely done with the costumes, but now the forecast is lots of rain...so we'll see what happens with my cardboard and paper costumes, lol.
I don't make costumes, but my kids always come up with ideas that need to be pieced together. I think I bought the last few items today. Alex (13) is going as Dwight from The Office. And Clara (12) is going as some kind of ghost-ish schoolgirl/rag doll thing (depending on what she decides to do with make-up tomorrow).
I got a cheapie from the Bargain shop but then again we don't really do Halloween here in Australia. But Tasha was too sick to get too into the spirit of things, worst luck, so I will have to get her to dress up over the weekend or I am not going to have any photos for NEXT year's Halloween kits LOL
