soooo - we have finally decided that we are going to buy a house and move this summer! woohoo! we moved to boston in the summer of 2010 from chicago - and it all happened very quickly so we decided to rent so that we could learn about neighborhoods, etc. i started house hunting early this month and i think we've narrowed it down to our top two - we'll go look at those again this weekend. i am SOOOO excited!

but - when we moved we sold a LOT of our furniture - so now i'm going to need stuff for the family room (everything! - we got rid of our couch, entertainment center, etc ... so i'll be starting from scratch .. ) ... dining room stuff ... oh my - i'm getting excited and nervous at the same time! haha!

i need to set up some new Pinterest boards to organize all my thoughts ... but if anyone has any good couch suggestions, i'm all ears! i am pretty sure we want something that is a sectional and leather ... but not even sure where to shop !?!? the majority of our previous furniture shopping was done in manhattan when we were shopping for a small high-rise apartment - totally not the same look we'll have now :)

i do LOVE my bed though - i have the colette bed from crate and barrel

... that's kind of the style i want the whole house - traditional, but w/ clean/modern lines ... and fairly light colors ...

i am SO excited!! woohoo!

fun fun :] I have no suggestions for couches or furniture ^_^
I have a feeling i may have asked you this before :p but where abouts are you looking? (you know.. people say boston but they rarely actually mean boston :p ie my bf lives in cambridge ^_^ )

We're getting a new couch next month...we're going with this from Ikea:

It's a sectional, but it's not leather. I'm so excited though...can't wait for it to come live in my home!

Oh FUN!! House hunting is so exciting and yet challenging at the same time, but I know it will be fabulous when you are all done.

For leather, I really like Bradington-Young. Their pieces are all 8 way hand-tied and their leather dye is really superb and durable. Style-wise...hmm... are these too transitional? Lots more styles and colors available. Good stuff, though.

Of course, there's always Crate and Barrel too for leather stuff.

How exciting! We purchased a lot of our new furniture at American Signature and are very happy with them. We got our bed from them years ago and turned out it ended up warping in the center of it... so someone came out and checked it and it was well below the 3''... so we got a brand new foam mattress ON THEM! :D
Good luck with everything!

Oooh - I like those laura! Definitely not too transitional - i think those look awesome! And I'll check out American signature too!

And La - we are in needham ;)

How fun and exciting! I haven't been furniture shopping in aaaaaages, so I'm no help. Love your bed and everything posted so far though! :)

Oh wow! Having just gone through the whole purchasing and buying a new home in the last few months, I totally know what you're going through. Good luck! I would suggest furniture but I don't think we have as many furniture stores in Canada as you do in the States and your probably have more to choose from. :). But I do love leather!

Dana-- that's so exciting! I've gotten some nice things at Boston Interiors but unfortunately they have not held up over time. I would throw in a vote for Ikea for all the "fill in the blank" type things that are not signature pieces or when you need something functional to just blend in and finish off a room. They're great and inexpensive and have stood the test of time better than others.
We live in Walpole-- not too far from you. :)

I am not a fan of furniture shopping, but I was just at Macy's Furniture with my sister last weekend. They have some pretty good sales and beautiful stuff, too. I got my couch (which is in storage :( ) there at a good deal.

Dana, that is so exciting!!

I have no suggestions for furniture shopping, but I can't wait to see what you get! :)

How exciting! I don't have many suggestions either, but I hope you have fun decorating your new place!

I am in the same boat Dana! We are moving next weekend and we aren't bringing our living room or dining room furniture (it's old and beat up). I want to get a sectional as well but we can't do leather because the dog sleeps on the couch and jumps on it etc so I think we are going to go with something from Pottery Barn. I love the Cortona dining room set but I haven't actually been in our new house yet so I have to see how big the rooms are before I can decide! Good luck that is so exciting!

oh yea kelly - you are moving to richmond!! woohoo! i went to the university of richmond :) loooove! my 20 year college reunion is next year i guess - i'll have to visit you when i go :) (haha - like how i invited myself ?!?!)

i like that cortona dining room set - pretty! my dream dining set used to be at restoration hardware before the switched up their look to all the salvaged wood .. i am kicking myself that i didn't buy it 4 years ago :( the think i hate about dining rooms is that i'm going to spend so much money on a room we will barely use - haha ...
