It's that time of year again. Summer is over. Winter is inevitable.

We are going to be booking our winter vacay again and I'm wondering if any of you go on a hot holiday in the winter?

Where do you go? Which resort do you stay at?
Do you go all-inclusive or European (buy your meals)?

We went to Negril, Jamaica for a week last December, just before Xmas. We stayed at Sunset at the Palms and absolutely loved it. We are pretty sure that we're going back there again this year, but would love to hear about other vacay's and how (hopefully) awesome they were!

we go to club med each year - either punta cana (dominican republic), sandpiper (west palm beach florida) or ixtapa (mexico) - we've been going to club meds forever - our family like it b/c it's all-inclusive and has TONS of activities (we do a lot of trapeze, sailing, tennis, aerobics, golf, etc) - lots of them have a kids club too which offers babysitting/kids activities.

club med is a french company, so a lot of french is spoken there, although there is english too ... and the rooms are not super luxurious - they are fine, just not the ritz ;)

i'd like to try some other all-inclusive places to compare, but we seem to keep going back to club med - LOL!

Ahhhh... there is nothing like a hot vacay when it's cold outside at home! I have a love-hate relationship with the count down to our annual vacation. We've been going to the Riu Jalisco in PV, Mexico for 5 years now. It's an all-inclusive resort, geared around family and fun! Amazing food and drinks, with 5 resturants. Two huge pools, plenty of white sandy beaches with loads of water activities, and daily entertainment and activities. I highly recommend this resort or any of the other Riu resorts. :-) Oh gosh, now I'm all pumped up for annual vacation! :-)

We've done Dominican Republic 3 times now and LOVED them all! 3 different resorts. People there are SOOO friendly, and the beaches are GORGEOUS! All Inclusive there is pretty much all there is, and we love that! I guess it kind of depends on what you like in a vacation, but it is totally our style! Hawaii is always nice, but more costly. :(

Amanda, where did you stay in Dominican Repulic? We are going there in the spring and are trying to narrow down a good all inclusive resort.

The last warm vacation we took was to the Riviera Maya in Mexico. We stayed a Dreams Tullum and it was AMAZING! The rooms were gorgeous, the restaurants were all unbelievable and the pools and all the fun activities they did throughout the day and the night were so much fun. I had a better vacation there than we did when we stayed at the Royal Bahamian Sandals in the Bahamas for our honeymoon. And the Dreams place in Mexico was way less than half the price. Totally fabulous and I can't recommend it enough!

these all sound FABULOUS! we have NEVER taken a vacation since we've been married. isn't that sad?
Unless you count driving to Zanesville, OH and staying in a Holiday Inn. Or going to Cedar Point to hang out on my parents' boat. But never to some fabulous destination that requires any kind of forethought and planning. Nope. But I'll dream with you and say Dominican Republic sounds LOVELY! I would do Brazil too... would love to see the coast. Or I could survive in Mexico - in a resort of some sort. Heck, I'd even settle for staying in the states and going to Hawaii. This girl's not picky. :giggle

We like to go somewhere warm in January to break the long stretch of winter too.

La Source, Grenada LOVE this place! Spa/resort and all-inclusive. Definitely more of a grown-up vaca. We've gone twice.

Atlantis, Bahamas - if you are taking the kids, this is the most fun they will ever have. LOL It's also a small fortune, but really fabulous. My brother takes his family here all the time. They do the dining plan, except not the value...apparently it's too restrictive.

El Conquistador, Puerto Rico We did a meal plan thing here that made it easy. Really interesting things to tour locally if you want to do more than lay on the beach. There's a Golden Door spa on property too. *sigh*

We've also gone to Aruba 3 or 4 times. I'm blanking out on the resort there that we loved. (haven't had my caffeine yet) There are lots of great inclusive properties on the island overall.
